Extended Batteries for All Verizon 4G LTE Phones are 50% Off

After reading our reports over the last couple of weeks which suggested that the Galaxy Nexus extended battery was half off, one of our readers called into Verizon to see what the deal was since they were so hard to find online and in stores. The rep informed him that in fact, all extended batteries for 4G LTE smartphones were 50%, not just for the Nexus. After taking quick lap around their online store, he is right. The Bionic, Stratosphere, and even Thunderbolt are all having battery sales. I looked for the Rezound, but it appears to be sold out.

Buy.

Cheers Chris!

Thanks for saving me some dough DROIDLIFE! -Happy GNEX owner ; )

What about the RAZR… oh yeah, that’s right… oops.

  • Ernie Shaw

Gnex extended battery back in stock on vzw website

  • Lars

They have been on sale since the week before Christmas. I bought one for my GN on 12/22/11 for $26.61.

  • Anonymous

    In store, online, or both?

  • Anonymous

I couldn’t even find a mention of an extended battery for the rezound on the website…

  • Droid_Junky

Just bought it. My Gnex battery last maybe 4 hours at work. Barely get a signal and sit at a desk all day so I can’t live without my music. Hopefully this will help some.

    • Anonymous

If you’re sitting at a desk all day long, maybe you can ask for an office with an outlet.

  • http://www.facebook.com/joseph.a.yager Joseph A. Yager

I think this phone is better than that phone!  Yours is dumb!

  • http://www.mobiletechview.com J_Dav1

I got the standard battery for the Rezound for half off last week at a store to put in the bolt. They looked at me like I was stupid when I told them what I was doing with it, but there is definately some improvement.

If you want the Galaxy Nexus extended battery, order it here:
    http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/store/accessory?&action=accessoryDetails&archetypeId=12917&accessoryId=49870

Your order will go through, but you’ll get an email indicating that it’s out of stock and will be shipped as soon as they can.

    • Pookie

Doesn’t work. There’s no way to add to cart.

      • Anonymous

Weird–it was there 30 minutes ago. Sorry ’bout that :(

    • http://twitter.com/defiantj3 Jason V

I got the same thing 25$ and alittle wait time works for me

You can also try changing your area of the country. In New Jersey where I live it shows up as out of stock but the rep told me to switch the area to Texas and I was able to order one.

  • Anonymous

Just jumped on the bandwagon and got the Galaxy extended battery with cover. 26 and some change after Florida tax on VZW’s site. Time for some wireless tethering methinks.

  • Zebra

Bummer, 25% employee discount doesn’t stack. Still a great deal.

    • ssjnimma

      I received the discount…

  • Eric

Couldn’t find the extended battery for the Galaxy Nexus on Verizon.com.  Chatted with a rep and he said they don’t currently offer it online.  WTF?!

    • Zebra
      • Anonymous

Says item is out of stock on my end of that link. That’s probably why Eric couldn’t find it and neither could I.

      • Eric

I found it through your link but it says its not compatible with my device. Weird.  Just had an online rep send me the link and I have it in my cart now.  Funky Verizon website.

    • Seanwcouch

just do a search on the website for galaxy nexus extended battery.  I just ordered mine.

    • Anonymous

Ordered mine today by doing a google search which ended up at Verizon. Arriving Monday. I could’t find it by searching under my device in VZ’s site either, but the link I found did show compatibility with the gnex.

damn my luck…. (proud rezound owner)

  • Anonymous

Nice ! ordered mine for the Tbolt. Maybe now i wont have to carry my charger everywhere

  • Stephen

If its sold out online just have a rep order it for you. I couldn’t find the extended battery anywhere and then they found it and ordered it for me

    • ChrisI

for a $2 “convenience fee” of course. :)

  • EC8CH

Sweet! Now I can pick up an extended battery for my RAZR…. err wait

    • Anonymous

      original

      • EC8CH

Now that I think about it, I should probably pick up three so I’ll have one for each of the awesome colors they come in.

Actually what they SHOULD do is give current RAZR owners 50% off the MAXX if they want to trade up.

        • Anonymous

Depends on what exactly the MAXX will turn out to be.  If it’s just a fatter phone with a bigger battery, I’ll pass.  I doubt it’ll be a significantly superior phone to the original, but who knows…

        • Anonymous

What are you bitching about? Just go trade your RAZR™ for either a Nexus (with an Extended Battery, that aint’ all that “EXTENDED”) or a ThunderBolt with that huge pregnancy hump on that back.

    • Anonymous

Cooool, now I can buy a 32GB MicroSD card for my Nexus with the money I saved… oh right, damn-damn-and more damn.

      • Anonymous

Damned your right… oh wait it comes with 32.. plenty.

      • http://profiles.google.com/staticx57 staticx57 is the best at every

Oh wait, you can have both with the Rezound…

        • Anonymous

Jolly good one and true! But, no Lapdock – sorrrrryyy… :(

          • http://profiles.google.com/staticx57 staticx57 is the best at every

Unfortunately the lapdock was a pretty poor value proposition for me when I was considering the Gnex, Rezound, and Razr and the Razr had far too many negatives that a lapdock was not able to make up for.

        • http://twitter.com/55938 MrSix

except the rezounds cartoonish battery life mandates an extra battery, unlike the Nexus and Razr’s which just sorta make it a bonus.

  • Kevin

Are there hard cases to fit the extended battery now?

    • Kevin

      For Thunderbolt, I mean.

      • Anonymous

I use the holster combo for my tbolt and yes they have one for the extended battery, just ordered mine. Hope that helps

      • http://twitter.com/PunE65 can’t be blank

Yes, Seidio makes a couple cases that fit either of the Thunderbolt extended batteries.

VZW sells a hard case/holster combo that’s quite functional as well.I actually returned the Seidio for the less-bulky and more secure holster VZW product.

  • ssjnimma

really debating getting the Extended battery for my Gnex but I tell you what for only $18.75 and free 2-day shipping, it was just to hard to pass up so I ordered mine yesterday!

    • inramana

Where did you get it? I am not able to find it anywhere

    • EC8CH

I just want them to start selling the landscape dock with the the charging pins.

      TAKE MY MONEY!

      • Anonymous

You mean to say your Nexus’ HD Dock does not simultaneously charge your phone?

        • EC8CH

I don’t know, not interested in the portrait dock.

          • Anonymous

            lol

[I heard the Nexus doubles as an iPhone]

  • Carl

you miss things like that when you focus on just one phone.  this sight has gotten so one sided its not even funny.  Razr is such a better piece of equipment!

Yes he does, you should try it sometime. This is America after all.

      • Anonymous

Actually, it should have been ‘site’ and ‘it’s’, respectively; asterisks are not needed but, since you are partially quoting, partial quotes are acceptable.

        • Guest

It should be “it” unless you are saying it is.  The possessive pronoun has no apostrophe.

    • Rocketjrb

Sorry he didnt mention the extended battery for the Razr. Curse you Droid-Life! Curse you!

      Well Carlito, I completely agree.

      Where to begin?…

      1. Battery is not an issue.
      2. MicroSD Slot/Expandable Memoires’
      3. HD Dock that, not only completely ‘Mirrors’ phone’s display and ALL apps’ in either portrait or landscape without need of an extra “Market” app, also charges the phone simultaneously.
      4. Someone say……LAP’FREAKIN’DOCK!!!
      5. Main Camera and FFC better than Nexus (FFC on the Nexus is like the iPhone’s 0.30 Pixel FFC)
      6. Motoprint useful freakin app’, thanks Motorola.
      7. SmartActions allows you to do what no other phone DOES!
      8. FAST CPU and GORGEOUS SCREEN.
      9. Great speaker sound and call quality.
      10. Aesthetically, sexy ass phone; Nexus = blahhhh.
      11. Nexus has been riddled with bugs; much like an iPhone before a major iTooonz update.

And, yes, tried Nexus before its’ release.

      • EC8CH

People just need to chill and have some fun.  Just because someone makes a joke and points out a phone’s limitation, it doesn’t mean people need to get bent out of shape.

        • Bewara2009

You have the Nexus, right? STFU already! Or is it that the nexus is giving you way too many problems and having second thoughts..

          • EC8CH

Could you run down that list of problems the G-Nex has again? Mine seems to be doing great, so I keep forgetting.

          • Bewara2009

I’ll just name a couple for you since the list goes on and on..
Signal Problem, Plagued with Screen Issues,  touchscreen, and Volume Problem.

          • EC8CH

Never dropped a call or lost 4G service, no problem there

Screen is Amazing, no problem there

            Touchscreen??? no problem there

I can hear my phone just fine, no problem there.

It was out for me AT FIRST!!!!! Then it showed up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just kept refreshing the accs page; I suppose as peoples carts timeout they become available??

Getting the extended battery for the Thunderbolt was awesome. Unless you are obsessed with having the slimmest possible phone (if so, why did you buy a Thunderbolt?) the “bump” really isn’t THAT bad, and being able to go 2-3 days between charges is great. Definitely was worth the $25 I paid in an earlier half-off sale.

    • Anonymous

I have a friend with an Tbolt w/ext battery- it’s definitely a great choice for anyone obsessed with having the thickest phone possible.

  • Anonymous

I got the extended battery last week for $25 and I am happy with it. It’s not a game changer but I can now get through the work day with having to check my battery level during the last few hours. I have good 4G signal at work but weak signal at home and I still have problems trying to squeeze 10 hours out of it on the weekends. FWIW the NFC antenna in the new battery works good with wallet.

  • http://twitter.com/lonndoggie Lonnie Brownell

“Extended Batteries for *ALL* Verizon 4G LTE Phones are 50% Off”

Er, no.  No such luck for the DROID Charge.  They’ll sell you the extended battery cover, but no extended battery (at all–not even at full price, it’s just not in the catalog).
    Damn.

    • Andrew

      The Charge never gets respect.

    • sog805

I just tried looking too…no where to be found

    • Highwire

whoa, more than 2 people still own the charge…surprising

      • http://twitter.com/lonndoggie Lonnie Brownell

Not only that, but VZW is still selling them for $199!

And…there’s a guy working on an CM9/ICS port for it and making good progress.  An extended battery would be handy if I’m going to keep this, which I might if there’s CyanogenMod support for it.

  • Guest

Droid Charge Extended battery is out of stock as well…

    • http://twitter.com/lonndoggie Lonnie Brownell

You see it as out-of-stock?  I don’t see it at all.  I do see the inductive charging cover as out of stock (and the regular battery is indeed 50% off).

  • Anonymous

How much more battery life does the extended battery for the Galaxy Nexus provide? I’ve had mine for about a week and a half now and haven’t found the battery life to be too much of an issue (at least after I got over my case of “I HAS NEW PHONE!!!1!” syndrome), but it might be useful to have a larger one and $25 isn’t a bad deal.

    • Anonymous

It adds 250 mAh so about 13.5% more capacity.

Working on 1 day 4 hours and 15 minutes with 7% left on mine.

      • Anonymous

7hr 44min heavy use and still 20% left…pretty dang good for me!

    • Anonymous

minimal battery extension. but it’s good to have the regular battery as a spare. i bring it with me when i know i won’t be near a charger for a while, and fits even under the extended battery door

      • Anonymous

No issues with it falling out of the socket since the back is not as close?

  • http://twitter.com/willsours Will Sours

Their Galaxy Nexus extended battery is hardly extended anyway. Extra 200mah is nothing. An extra 2000mah and were talkin but I haven’t found one thats available yet.

    • Anonymous

Seidio’s 3800 is “Coming Soon” . . . no NFC though… Depends on if you care.

  • http://twitter.com/defiantj3 Jason V

I was just able to get one

  • Anonymous

Standard batteries also seem to be 50% off too.

  • http://twitter.com/defiantj3 Jason V
  • Mack

No love for my X2? I’ve wanting an extended battery especially since it’s barely any bigger but I can’t see paying $50 for it.

    • Anonymous

      Check Seidio

      • Mack

Just did. They have two, one is the same price verizon has for the oem extended battery and the other is way to big to work with my case. :(

        • Anonymous

Gotta trade off that case for the better battery life man lol… That’s why i haven’t bought a case for my phone yet..

          • Mack

Actually the case I have for my X2 will work with the extended battery on verizon’s site. The difference between the standard and extended battery on my phone is hardly even noticeable.

  • http://twitter.com/defiantj3 Jason V

Anybody else see the extended battery for the Nexus, I don’t :(
