Latest DROID RAZR Commercial Highlights Smart Actions, It Will Become Self Aware

YouTube Preview Image

More DROID RAZR highlights in this latest spot dubbed “Smart Blade.” Back to the ways of old. Consider me a fan of this current campaign. And if you missed our RAZR review from earlier, be sure to check it out.

My comment is about your Ad currently running on TV with a Mother and Daughter faking crying.
WHAT A TURN OFF THAT AD IS!!  Can’t you come up with something better than that?

  • Ron

Haha, self-aware? That is beyond a ridiculous claim. The phone realizes it exists and is capable of independent thought? Yeah, I don’t think so. I don’t understand how they can even legally say that. It’s the Terminator of smart phones.

  • Shifterracer

Like the commercial and almost bought one.  Instead i went with the HTC because i liked the screen better.  I’ll be trading this in for a GN because the HTC is buggie!!

  • Monty Waggoner

The RAZR looks great, and the lapdock could be sweet too. I caught myself laughing about the GPS for my morning commute though. I drive it every day, I know the way by now.

this made me want to rebel against “routines” even more.

A lot of these new phones are being sold on gimmicks. When the OG came out it truly brought something new and worthy to the table. It didnt need splash coating, kevlar, or a body so thin it isnt even comfortable to hold. Just good build quality, and the extra solid froyo update are what pushed that phone to the top. At least the Rezound actually has a gimmick thats actually worth something with its headphones. The phones themselves are probably really good, but i cant help but view the direction marketing is heading in as a joke. Even the nexus is being hyped(marketed) primarily by just its name, and secondarily by the fact that its first with ics. Big whoop. It doesnt even have an sd slot, let alone an hdmi out. Again, not bashing phones here, but really none of the stuff this season really looks great to me. if my bolt were to die tomorrow, id either shop cr for something cheap or use an upgrade on the rezound, as its one gimmick worth mentioning is actually something id care to use.

    • Monty Waggoner

I’ve had an HDMI port for a while and never used it. Am I missing out on a great feature? What can I do?

      • Anonymous

Well for one you can stream video to any hdtv…meaning you don’t have to watch netflix on a 4 inch screen, which also means that if I keep my hdmi cable in my car, I can stream netflix at anyone’s house. I have a transformer tablet that I use for it, but having it on a 4g device would make it even more useable. Also streaming YouTube or simply playing downloaded movies off my SD card is always a good option. And the Amazon cables are cheap with great quality in case I managed to sway you or anyone else over.

    • Turd_Ferguson

guess dual core and LTE are nothing important to you?  This year was all about Hardware changes not software

      • Anonymous

Don’t get me wrong. I even said the phones were probably good. I have LTE on my bolt and can’t live without it now. Dual core is also a huge plus but so far my friend is yet to show me something he can do with his Droid 3 that my bolt can’t match, except maybe pull higher linpacks. But I just show him 17mbps down on speedtest and he sits back down.

    • Kevin Parlee

HDMI is outh through the USB like other phones. Evo 3D ect.

  • Anonymous

Tha noise in the beginning sounds like the heavy spinning up his mini-gun in TF2

    • Jj

i just saw the vi and googled to see if anyone else got the tf2 reference :P

  • Anonymous

Self Aware?  Who would have thought a phone would start WWIII :D

  • Anonymous

II don’t like the droid marketing campaigns anymore. I think the reason most idiots are still buying iphone is because of simplicity and effective and deceptively smart marketing. I think if Verizon finally accepted this fact and learned to counter it they could really get the masses to see what’s going on here. Infact if google decided to market android as a whole it would get some people to wake up from their brainwashed entrance.

Basically people are scared of too much power

  • Anonymous

This device is to powerful to fall in girly hands. Most of the nexus followers are sissy girls specially 1bad69zz and de vitto :) They cry all day not only on this blog, but on phandroid and androidcentral.

I just saw this commercial watching X Factor, Maybe Simon Cowell will show his RAZR on X Factor lol

  • Arenaboi

Maybe it will become self aware enough to move itself off the shelf and make room for the Nexus

    • Anonymous

You are probably right, that LTE version of the Nexus is so thick, it will need the space. I actually heard some people wanting to buy the extended battery for that thing. Seriously?!? If you want something that fat, why not just buy a Thunderbolt and at least benefit from the kickstand. To be honest, the VZW Nexus with extended battery is so fat, you might not need the kickstand, it will stand on it’s side on it’s own.

Lol you speak as if you’re trying to hurt someones feelings. Ur talking about a phone dude, not the girlfriend of some guy u don’t like

        • Anonymous

Lol, point taken. Thanks for bringing me back to reality.

With it’s head hung low :-)

    • Anonymous

It’ll need too, just in case some hapless stockboy puts it up wrong and it tips to the side and chops the Nexus’s cheapo all plastic body and glitchy radio clean in half :P

Smart Actions definitely needs to become more refined.  The location setting isn’t too great, but some great features.

  • http://twitter.com/howzball Mike

God! This phone is so last week. Razr owners need to understand like us Droid 3 owners do, no-one cares about your ancient technology anymore.

My Droid X is self aware. It continues to run more sluggish and buggy so I will resign a 2little year contract with Verizon for a new phone.

    • FugginBojangles

2 year ^, DX threw in the little part, how ironic

I love the old commercial format. Yes the over dramatic commercials are cool but this gets to the point. By the way where is the “Droid Does” slogan?

    • http://twitter.com/gamercore Chris Chavez

Well, Droid Does used to be about everything an Android device can do vs. the iPhone. Makes it a little weird now that the iPhone is on Verizon let alone the main argument of “multitasking” has been matched by the iPhone or “removable battery” no longer applies to the RAZR =/

    • http://profiles.google.com/chrisleighton3 Chris Leighton

and the Droid logo morphing across the center of the screen at the beginning? It’s not quite like the first OG Droid ads, but it’s a step in the right direction.

  • Anonymous

Pt his could get many a men will get in many a trouble in many a way. :P

  • Anonymous

Very nice ad, it’s a great phone, nice to actually show people it’s features!

  • http://www.deathbycone.com Jared Kotoff

I always wondered “i run my gps every morning to the same location at the same time to avoid traffic, why can’t my phone just predict and run it for me?” sounds like this might be my answer. hope other phones get this too

  • http://twitter.com/mfg68 MFG

    I want Smart Actions.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000155987673 Austin Mutschler

It is cool but Tasker is better. The only problem with Tasker is it cost $6.50. I am still going to buy it though.

Too bad it is “ruled by the Bionic. ” lmao

    • Anonymous

Ahh, I would say that the RAZR is a strong cut above the Bionic!!  Nice try Steve Austin :).

      • Anonymous

Where are my tacos? I said i will tip you well lol. Razr foverer

      • Anonymous

I was referring to the commercial. The Moto campaign for Bionic was “the droid to rule all others.” ha! That lasted about a month.

@PAKmann2k, I agree the Bionic was a lfavor of the month that literally lasted a month. It’s motto of “To Rule All Droids” was a joke.

  • Kierra

    Smart Actions seems so cool.

  • Anonymous

After over a dozen pointless ads, Motorola finally gets the idea.

    • Anonymous

Verizon is that promote these adds.

      • Aaa

        What?

  • dkbetts

Seems like the key marketing theme for this commercial is focused on Siri.  I’m not impressed.  I am getting sick of saying it, but I still want the Galaxy Nexus.

    • Monty Waggoner

Galaxy Nexus? Never heard of it, is that a phone too?

    • Gamer 28

I think I’ll be renting a Razr just to hold me over until the Galaxy Nexus finally drops.
