Verizon Working with HTC on Thunderbolt Reboot Issue

It’s no secret that the Thunderbolt is experiencing “device reset” issues, but we’re happy to report that Verizon has finally acknowledged the issue and is working with HTC to find a solution.  The rebooting of this device has become more than a nuisance at this point, so an acknowledgement is at least a step in the right direction.  I would like to point out that my device was doing this long before the latest update though, and appears to have worsened since the latest update.  Oh, and I should also let you know that I’m still experiencing it even while running this new Gingerbread leak.  Here’s to hoping that it’s only a software issue.

    its not the phone per say. its the OS after the update. its not motorola like verizon claims. mine never did it until after the latest update, i have the Droid X with GB OS and now my husbands does it since the latest update last week with his and he has the original droid with froyo OS.  its not only motorola phone doing this.  the commonality for all these phones is the Android OS updates.

    I’m sorry, I’ve had the exact same issue with my HTC Incredible and no amount of upgrading or factory resetting has helped it.  I even got a replacement from Verizon and it had the exact same issue.  No more HTC for me!

    Mine keeps rebooting…  Usually in the middle of a run…

    I have had reboot issues with two Thunderbolts. I am curious if those with the reboot issue also have the Sirius/XM app. It’s the only 3rd party app that i’ve had that seems to lock up, so I’m wondering if i is contributing to the reboot issue.

    I am on my 3rd TB and all 3 have the random reboot issue.  All since May 13th…I was told VZW will buy my TB back for $240.00 and I can get another device.  Maybe the Samsung Charge??

    I am experiencing reboots all the time. It was randomly occurring before the update and occurs more often since the update… a nuisance. Plus my battery drain has increased.

    Verizon replaced my thunderbolt, and I honestly havent had a reboot since, perhaps it is hardware related, also seems like my screen is a bit brighter and power button seems to be able to work easier.

    I am trying to figure out something here with the reboot issue and need some input.

    Having had the reboot issue and reporting it, VZW swapped my phone out.
    Thursday: Received the phone, setup phone, no update, 3G coverage (Upstate NY)
    Friday: Recieved the update, ran update no reboots, 4G LTE coverage (Rochester, NY)
    Saturday: No reboots, 4G LTE coverage (Rochester, NY)
    Sunday: No reboots, 4G LTE coverage until 6pm, lost 4G coverage when leaving Rochester, NY, as soon as I was on 3G coverage my phone began to reboot………………………

    Anyone reporting no reboots, are you in a 4G coverage area ?

      I have had reboots on 4G and 3G.  I’ve had them on calls, texting, adding a contact, and in the holster…

    Just got my update here in Orange County, California. So far so good.

     I am still running on stock, basically brand new TB, and it restarts randomly and at daily rate. :(

     How can they let us happen?  Every company knows you have to do a QA testing for atleast several weeks before releasing it to the public.

    I hope its gingerbread. The leak is a bit buggy, but very useable. Probably the best radio too. GPA locks quickly, 4g signal is stable and transition to 3g on the soot seemlessly.

     co worker has taken her TB into vzw many times since she got it, reboot is one of many issues shes having.  Vzw said they cant do anything because not enough people have complained about it.  today her phone’s clock was showing the time in South Africa…. we’re in northern CA.   I forwarded her this article anyway.

    Factory reset fixed my random reboots caused by the ota.

     I had to re-boot twice as part of the initial update installation but haven’t had a single random reboot (knock on wood), my battery also seems to be lasting longer on 4G LTE now and I have better signal than before the update, though it seems like it doesn’t last as long on 3G.

    I did a factory reset after receiving the new OTA firmware and have experienced around 2-3 reboots a day.  Bummed.

        I got 1 replacement from Verizon and its done it 3 times since I turned it on. I’m just gonna wait for a patch.

       Same here.  I’m at 5 already today.  Have a new one coming from Verizon.  Should have it tomorrow.  Lets hope it has no problems.

     I have been having the reboot issue frequently over the past few weeks and a soft and hard reset still didn’t solve the issue.  I ordered a replacement phone but now that I see this is a common issue I’m not sure that it will solve the problem either.  It is good to know that I’m not the only one experiencing this issue.  Praying they figure it out soon!
