Google’s upcoming Pixel Watch 5 was not a part of that massive retailer listing reveal last week, so it has remained somewhat of a mystery. We have seen some new pictures, and there was that whole scuba diving incident, but now we think we’re getting a look at a few specs, thanks to Google Play Console.
A listing was added to the Google Play Console on July 10 that suggests a device under codename “godric” is the Pixel Watch 5. The watch is running Android 17 and has one noteworthy upgrade over the Pixel Watch 4.
But first, the listing also has the image below, which could very well be the Pixel Watch 5, although we have no way to confirm. It does match the watch face from the supposed-official images of the Watch 5. Either way, it looks fun.
As for the listing itself, it details a device running the same Qualcomm SW5100 Wear chip as the Pixel Watch 4. This was a big upgrade last year that really helped with efficiency and should be fine for another year. While it’s not the new Snapdragon Wear Elite chip found in the new Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, it’s proven to be more than capable.
We can also see a mention of a 426×426 display resolution and 320ppi, an Adreno 702 GPU, and RAM listed at 2.8-2.9GB. That would put the RAM in the Pixel Watch 5 at 3GB and would be an upgrade. The Pixel Watch 4 has 2GB RAM, but knowing how heavy Google continues to lean into Gemini on its watches, more RAM should mean better performance in that arena.
With last year’s Pixel Watch 4 launch, Google also upgraded the co-processor from a Cortex-M33 to a Cortex-M55, which also greatly improved efficiency and battery life. This specs list does not detail a co-processor, so there’s a chance that Google could bring us an upgrade here that we just don’t know about yet.
And that’s it for the Pixel Watch 5 for now. Things are looking very similar to the Pixel Watch 4, with at least one decent upgrade in RAM. What else do we think Google will bring to sell us a new watch?
