HBO Max was able to scoop up a few customers at launch, including myself, thanks to pre-order pricing of $11.99/month, down from the usual $14.99/month price. Well, that special pricing offer is now back in action, able to be used by any one who hasn’t already had an account. And again, it’s good for twelve months. That’s a savings of $36 over the course of a year.
“Pretty, pretty, pretty good,” as my buddy Larry David would say in his hit HBO series Curb Your Enthusiasm. Did you know South Park and a ton of other great TV series and movies are on HBO, too?
This promotion will go away on September 25, so if you are curious, go snag it.

They won’t get a cent from me until they offer 4K HDR. That’s unacceptable to be a “premium” service and only offer HD. Nope!
I’ve had HBO for free as a promotion many times and never watched it. 99% of what Hollywood produces today is garbage.
Tried to sign up for the 11.99 and it didnt work. ugh, wtf, says my next billing is 14.99
if anyone is interested in this, here is the actual steps so you do not end up in my situation: https://help.hbomax.com/Answer/Detail/2932#who
Having had HBO since the last promotion at this price I kind of feel like this should be the regular price. I really enjoy the programming but I feel like you can get pretty caught up on the better shows fairly quickly then the new stuff trickles in slower. I don’t see this as having the same value as say Netflix 4K HDR version at the same price which has a ton of more content (obviously much more junk too but arguably more value/programming depending on the person I guess). I am not sure I will continue to oay for HBO once the price is 15 bucks a month but for some reason 12 feels acceptable for now but at 10 bucks I feel I would keep it even longer with less reservation.
Keep in mind that you do not get the free seven day trial if you sign up for the $12 promo price.
Roku, Amazon, and HBO really need to work out their issues. It’s pretty ridiculous they haven’t worked things out at this point.
AT&T too (remember, AT&T owns HBO/Warner Media)
Still cannot get AT&T TV on Roku. I know of 2 people who even had the good grandfathered AT&T/DirectTV Now plan and dropped it and went to YouTube TV simply because of the endless Roku/AT&T disputes. I have seen tons of Peacock complaints lately too regarding their lack of Roku or FireTV integration.
I am holding the line with Hulu, Netflix, Prime, and Disney Plus.
This is really on AT&T. Roku makes its money on services paying to be on the platform not on the devices. AT&T won’t pay. AT&T is being really stupid. AT&T has deep pockets and can easily pay Roku and it’s in AT&T’s best interest.
It looks like HBO really wants HBO Max to get more subscribers but they aren’t willing to do the one thing that would help most. Add Roku and Fire TV support.
Yep. Only reason I haven’t subscribed. They can drop the price down to $3, and I still wouldn’t because I don’t want to watch HBO on any other device or have more steps than needed to watch something.
I have HBO Max but I already pay for HBO through DirecTV and since DirecTV is owned by AT&T I get HBO Max. I’m just waiting for Roku to have HBO Max to drop DirecTV which I’ve thinking about doing for a while.
Just for the record this doesn’t work if you’re paying through Google. Only if you subscribe directly through the HBO Website
Same situation with YouTube TV. I can’t use the YouTube TV HBO channels because I bought this deal directly on HBO’s site last time. I figure I’ll cancel there and start paying on YouTube TV once the promo ends.
The help page sonic69 linked says you can pay through partners, but you may need to start the registration process on HBO’s site.
Still not worth it.
$13 for HBO, $7 for Disney, $13 for Netflix, $5 for Peacock, $6 for CBS, etc…..by the time you add them all up you may as well pay the $50 for cable and their 100 channels. So much for the dream of cord cutting from 5 years ago when people thought they could just get Hulu and be satisfied.
Most people aren’t paying for all of those random services. Who’s paying for CBS and Peacock? I even canceled my Disney Plus. People don’t need every service that’s the point.
I have peacock but I did the year for $30 deal. Otherwise I probably wouldn’t be using them much.
Lol I have it too but only because Its fee with Comcast.
Where you getting cable for $50? Also who said you had to sub to ALL of the streaming services
Who on Earth actually pays for Peacock and CBS? lol
I pay for CBS All Access for maybe two months a year. Star Trek Discovery, Star Trek Picard, Star Trek Lower Decks and The Twilight Zone are all good. I just wait for several seasons to be done and then pay for a month.
That use case does makes sense. I should have been more specific, and asked who would pay for CBS on an ongoing, monthly basis.
$50 for cable will not get u HBO, Cinemax, or any on demand movies like disney and netflix.
Yep. I dumped everything except for SlingTV last year. It got ridiculous. I do have Apple TV since I just got a new laptop this year. And since I’m a Comcast Internet customer, they provide Peacock. But both of those services are rarely used.
