  • I just upgraded manually to Android M but my SIM card is not getting detected now. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Need help installing the images on my Nexus 6. I have a Macbook Pro running El Capitan 10.11.1 Beta…and for some reason I cant get my computer to recognize my phone while in the bootloader (aka it stays charging, and I cant get it into MTP). My computer recognizes my phone perfectly find and shows up as a device in adb when its booted up normally, but I have to manually select MTP when i connect my computer. Is there anyway to automatically select MPT when I connect to my computer?

    • MTP isn’t available while the device is in Fastboot.

      “On Mac OS, you’ll need to add the “Platform Tools” directory to your $PATH variable. That means opening up a terminal, typing “sudo nano /etc/paths,” entering your password, and adding the path of the “Platform Tools” directory to the bottom of the file. Then hit “control+X” on the keyboard, “y” and then “enter” to save, and you’re done. Then you just need to run “flash-all.sh” from the terminal.”

      • Thanks brotha..I’m good to go…appreciate the help. For some reason… Adb worked for the previous Android m betas….but now I had to use fastboot…and I’m good to go.

  • Totally off topic – but will someone recommend me a case for the N6 that allows it to lie flat and not wobble side to side AND have a kickstand?

  • My Nexus 6 feels like a completely different phone. I can’t believe how much faster it is now.

    • I’ve gotten numerous popups since flashing: “Unfortunately, ___ has to close.” I’m afraid I might have to do a factory reset…

      • I always factory reset for any Android update, especially a major version update like this one.

      • For a major update (even Preview x to full version), you should do a factory update.

  • Anyone have a working Super SU flashable to install. heard the SuperSu from chainfire 2.46 and 2.49 do not work

  • Wugfresh Flash Stock + Unroot time!! I’m going to assume that this can be rooted…

      • Not sure what that means…I had heard rooting the 6.0 Preview was not smart but Google wouldn’t have made the official release difficult … right?

        • Google’s interest is not to allow root no matter what, their interest is in security and some security fixes will do things to prevent root.

          I haven’t tried it myself but there’s no reason to expect it to be different rooting it on the official release vs on the preview.

    • Yes it can be rooted. Just unencrypt, flash twrp, install leankernel and SuperSU 2.49.. The only painful part about 6.0 is no xposed yet. Other than that I am loving the subtle improvements in Marshmallow

      • Thanks but I’ll just wait for the Nexus Toolkit. Getting too lazy these days…

    • If it’s the same as the Previews, you will need a custom kernel to root. But I don’t know if its going to be the same or if they made some changes that might require a new method. Might have to wait and see what people say after attempting it.

    • There’s only one build now, which supports T-Mobile and Project Fi features.

      • are you saying that 6.0.0 (MRA58K) will support t-mobile nexus 6? has anyone actually tested this out or are you just assuming.

        • no need to test. I had it on tmobile with preview 3 and it worked with volte,wifi calling and native visual voicemail built into the dialer.

        • Came up on reddit.com/r/projectfi this morning. A trusted source verified wifi calling and such is now built into AOSP (we knew about this earlier in the year). So there’s no need for separate builds.

    • No reason to beware of anything. Marshmallow has all these things for every build. The tmobile sim card will activate the specific things like wifi calling and native visual voicemail too.

    • It works for all users. Wifi calling it’s baked into Marshmallow now, as is visual voicemail.

      • Haven’t touched that in a long time. Will that install the update without overwriting user data?

        • You should always do a full flash when upgrading major versions (and also previews). There have been a lot of reports of people dirty flashing and getting tons of FCs from apps afterwards.

          Edit: I tested it on my N6 and sure enough, tons of force closing apps. After a full wipe and flash, all is good again.

    • just flash the .img files, Bootloader, Boot, Radio, Recovery, and System without the userdata or cache. does the same thing. Still retains all data and apps

          • When are the options given to you for what files you want to flash/keep? I’m new at this. I downloaded the 6.0 file and adb. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

          • ok here are step by step (assuming you already have the android dev kit, adb and fastboot files already)

            1. download image file from google
            2. open tgz file (i use winrar)
            3. extract the Bootloader and Radio .img files from first folder on your desktop (or easy access)
            4. open the image zip file within the first file
            5. extract the boot, recovery, system .img files and place in prev folder with other img files **DO NOT** use cache or userdata
            6. place all the .img files together in your adb folder (the root/top folder)
            7. connect phone to usb, make sure usb debugging is enabled
            8. open cmd (type cmd at the told of the folder where adb is)
            9. type “adb reboot bootloader” (no quotes, should reset your phone into bootloader)

            10. type “fastboot flash X (type of file) Z (file name)” [example “fastboot flash radio radio.img’]
            11. type above for each image file with system.img being the last one. MAKE SURE IT WRITES AND SAYS COMPLETE

            12. type “exit” and restart your phone

          • Weird, this time around after extracting image zip there is no user data or cache in there. Trying to install without wiping data and app data.

        • No, I’m pretty sure Google combined everything into one image now so you don’t need to download a separate Project Fi image or a separate T-Mobile image anymore. There was only one image for Android M Preview 3 when I tried it and it worked fine with T-Mobile.

  • They even got the images up for the LTE versions of the Nexus 9 and Nexus 7 (2013)…… Was not expecting that.

  • The nexus 7 2013 is still an awesome tablet. It runs as fast and smooth today as it did the day I got it.

    • So if I were to buy a used one it wouldn’t be a bad ? I don’t NEED a tablet but I wouldn’t mind one.

      • I’ve been using mine since Dec. 2013 and love it. Its the prefect size for carrying around. I do email, web browsing and a lot of video/netflix on it. I probably use it most for video. I’m not much of a gamer, but the few I have played had no trouble (Deer Hunter 2014 and PBA® Bowling Challenge). A used one would probably be a lot cheaper than a new nexus 9 anyway. Be sure you get the 2013 version and not the older 2012 version if you decide on one. They have the same name.

      • Can find them for $50 on ebay. Check seller first, some of the refurbished ones aren’t good. Bought an OG N7 that the battery died after a month and wouldn’t hold a charge. Still used it anyway to replace my broken screen one, still a good deal for glass and digitizer.
