  • Was waiting for a good Doge meme with like “wow” “so colors” “shine red” but I was too lazy to make one lol

  • Why do I feel like someone at VZW messed up? My Maxx comes with 32GB…by default… sooooo this is a downgrade just for a pretty color? Looks like the Ultra to me… hmm.

  • No contract price = $499.99
    Edge price = $24.99 * 24 months = $599.76
    Not quite no interest financing.

  • The old model only came in 32gb and the new colors only come in 16gb. Still no sd slot.

    • It was released in August 2013, so assuming 18 months of support that would put it at February 2015.

  • Dear Motorola,
Thank you for the OG Droid – everything since has been crap – my Razr MAXX HD lags even when I update apps and the camera sucks – never again – bring on the LG G3 and I am taking a chance with it –

    • The Droid Maxx is nothing like the Razr Maxx HD. It uses a totally different chipset (the X8 from the Moto X) and has twice the RAM. It’s like night and day in terms of performance.

    • MAXX is not the same as RAZR Maxx HD. Completely different animal. My MAXX never lags and runs like new and have had it since day 1. Trust me you can’t go wrong with this phone. The X8 computing system runs a dual core 1.7GHz snap-dragon like a four core CPU. THe four core Graphics processor is the whole difference, it screams. The other two processors make for an unforgettable and very useful experience. This is a NICE phone….

  • Love my Droid Maxx. It’s going on 8 months now and still runs like new, no lag or jank anywhere in site. Should be getting 4.4.2 in a few weeks according to Moto (via G+).

  • The glossy kevlar doesn’t look good at all and it’s a finger print magnet. The plain Kevlar always looks great, I just wish they provided more colors. I have a Razr HD in white and I had to get a carbon fiber skin to match, which made it look really nice.

I wish Moto didn’t skimp on the Droid MAXX and would have given it a 1080p display. While I find 720p more than enough in most situations, I think it works for a 5″ screen. An SD card slot would have been nice too.

        • I’ve been a pretty die hard moto fan, back when everyone hated them too…droid x, x2, razr, razr maxx, RAZR Madd hd, Maxx and moto x.

With that said, kit Kat update on the Maxx, for a lot of people including me, significantly reduced battery life and caused issues with the cameras focus.

Toss in the let down of the visual appeal to kit Kat, white menus, transparent menus, gogle now integrations (or lack thereof to be precise)…

It just ruined the phone without bringing much to the table.

          • Sorry to hear that. I would recommend a factory data reset to help with the battery issues if you haven’t tried it. One consolation is that we are apparently getting the all-white icons finally in the next update (according to David Schuster of Moto).

Curious what you mean about Google Now integration being lacking? I use Google Now all the time and it works great with Touchless Control. The only way I’ve seen it more integrated is with the GEL on the Nexus 5, which can also be side-loaded on the Maxx.

          • Well, during a soak it’s not real unheard of to do a factory reset a number of times.

Also pretty common is having to sideload recovery if your phones bricked, assuming other remedies aren’t working…it’s supposed to be why we are in the soak…not only are we willing to wipe out our phones, we know how to do it effectively Brin it back to exactly the factory image.

…admit, been a while and a number of phones/skins later, but I seem to remember Google now integration not working real well, laggy, etc ???

          • Wow indeed … I have no idea what your previous comment meant. We’re not in a soak test right now, 4.4 was released to the public months ago and 4.4.2 is still under development….

  • The render on Verizon’s website is off center with the capacitive buttons, and my ocd is killing me

  • I bet a lot of people got the Maxx not only because of the bigger battery, but also the soft touch back instead of the fingerprint magnet gloss.

    • Change the storage to 16Gb and then it will let you pick the new colors. Very bad design IMO.

  • I cant believe they say the back is Kevlar. In stores on the live display devices you can tell where the “Kevlar” is faded from people playing with it.

    • Where do you see that? When I click the link to VZW it offers 32Gb for $599 or 16Gb for $499. Not showing the new colors though.

      • Just think about this for a moment:
The RAZR HD Maxx launched in 2012 with 32GB internal AND a microSD slot. The Droid Maxx launched in 2013 with 32GB internal standard. Now it’s 2014 and the Maxx is “refreshed” with 2 colors and 1/2 the internal storage. All the more reasons to give props to HTC for bringing microSD *BACK* and insisting on 32GB standard for at least the domestic M8 SKUs.

Also, the Galaxy S3 was launched in 16GB and 32GB versions simultaneously on VZW in 2012. In 2013, the 32GB GS4 lagged the 16GB one by a few months. In 2014 there’s not even a hint of a 32GB GS5 incoming.
