Thanks to the source code-scouring folks at XDA, the upcoming Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL’s Smooth Display feature, which is the phone’s capable refresh rate of 90Hz, is all but 100% confirmed by Google.

Hidden in plain sight in Android 10’s source code is mention of an enable/disable flag to toggle 90Hz, designed for “P19” devices. P19, in this case, presumably stands for Pixel 2019. Given we’ve already had two Pixel 2019 releases, the 3a and 3a XL, with neither sporting 90Hz refresh rates, it seems like a safe bet to assume Google’s developers are referring to the Pixel 4 and 4 XL.

We previously learned about the Pixel 4’s reported Smooth Display feature in early August. At a reported 90Hz, that gives it the same refresh rate as the OnePlus 7 Pro. This boosted refresh is good for when you’re scrolling through apps and playing games.

The Pixel 4 is coming soon, folks!
