Google’s Pixel Slate, a tablet that might have been the worst reviewed product of 2018, is getting steep price cuts on the regular these days. For example, right now, you can buy a Pixel Slate and get a keyboard with it for as little as $550. That’s a savings of around $450.

Should you buy this combo at $550? Honestly, that might not be a terrible deal. The hardware of a Pixel Slate is decked out enough that if Chrome OS ever matures as a tablet operating system, it could be really good. The build of the device is nice, the display is gorgeous, the speakers are loud, and it’s got the goods inside that are the envy of many. But you’d be buying in hoping that Google one day figures it out and we know Google’s track record when it comes to beta products that might one day be good with a little love. Look at our friend, Wear OS.

At this $550 price, you’ll get a Slate with an Intel Core m3, 64GB storage, and 8GB RAM. You then get to choose a free keyboard, which could be the official Pixel Slate Keyboard or the Brydge G-Type Keyboard. If you want an upgraded Slate, the next option up is the Core i5 model with 128GB storage that starts at $749 now.

Any takers?
