Want 5G first? Verizon is ready for you.

As was announced two days ago, Verizon 5G Home sign-ups are now available. If you want to be one of the first people to taste 5G, signing-up now will get your service going on October 1 when Big Red flips the switch to “ON.”

Of course, you have to be in a supported market and there are only four of those at the moment. Living in Indianapolis, Los Angeles, Sacramento, or Houston is a requirement, but our understanding is that the service area may be limited to specific neighborhoods within those cities. To find out if you are covered, you’ll need to hit that link below and check for availability.

Should you live within a Verizon 5G Home area, there are some things to know. We’ve got a Verizon 5G Home quick facts list, but the basics are this:

  • Cost is $50/mo for Verizon customers or $70/mo for non-Verizon customers. The first 3 months are free.
  • There are no annual contracts, equipment charges or installation fees, and the monthly fees and taxes are rolled into those prices I just mentioned.
  • By signing-up, you also get 3 free months of YouTube TV and either a free Apple TV 4K or Chromecast Ultra.
  • Your typical speeds should hover around 300Mbps, but peak speeds could reach 1Gbps.

If I could, I’d sign-up and give it some run, but I live in Portland. Someone sign-up and tell me about it.
