Remember the date OnePlus scheduled to release OxygenOS? March 27? Oh, right, that’s today. Well, the company is on its forum, apologizing because it has missed this timeframe. According to Helen, Head of Mobile Product at OnePlus, extra quality control issues delayed the release, but it is going to come, eventually.
As for when, that is still to be determined. To combat anyone saying that the company is not being transparent enough about the update, OnePlus will update a forum post with information regarding progress of OxygenOS every day, until it is released.
And, of course, OnePlus promised they would give away 5 phones if they missed the deadline. Sticking to their word, they reached out to five forum members who will receive OnePlus One units.
Below, Helen writes what the issue is, stating they have to make sure OxygenOS passes Google certification.
The ROM is fully functional and we have quite a few people in the office running it on their own devices without any issues. The delay is caused by extra quality control. We want to make sure that OxygenOS passes Google certification, that all future updates can be OTA’ed properly, and that users from all over the world are able to use OxygenOS in the language of their choice.
We know you’ve been waiting for a long time, and we owe you answers. So, until OxygenOS is officially released, we will share our progress with you. Every day, no matter how big or small the news is, this post will be updated with information in order to give you more visibility into the process. As for a release date, we will release as soon as we feel that it’s good enough for you and it will be very soon.
Sorry, OnePlus One owners. But don’t worry, they are working on it!

It’s like a rubber bullet to Google’s head.
If I was Google I would hold the certification after the comments of Cyanogen’s idiot CEO.
they need to sit down and have a HUGE slice of humble pie. seriously
What is a one plus, can sum one please tell me, two?

These guys don’t seem to understand business in the least. If they could actually deliver what they think they are delivering people might care about their ridiculous comments to Google.
Despite their issues, I’m really excited to see their sophomore effort as I plan on leaving VZW in less than a year.
One plus needs to have several seats… They’re played out now…. FOH
Oh Nexus 6, let me count the ways…
I never understand this comment…
This is why companies don’t like giving dates for software updates. From a consumer standpoint, it sucks because we get antsy and want to know when we’re going to get the latest & greatest software, but then if the company misses the date, we get our undergarments in a tight wad. I’d rather they would just keep us in the know as to where they are in the update process and at best, give us some sort of general time frame – which could still lead to the aforementioned tight-wad undies.
One who?
what are you, an owl?
Not surprised… But glad they’re taking their time unlike some companies that rush updates
I’ve seen on the Oneplus sub reddit that they are waiting the certification from Google to be able to push out OTA updates. They do have a working build as well.
The reason for the delay in the first place was many drivers like the camera had to be rewritten from scratch.
I can wait… My OPO on 4.4.4 runs great, but it is dissapointing.
I give them credit for keeping their customers as informed as they can.
So by updating everyday they mean by post “Waiting”
“We want to make sure that OxygenOS passes Google certification” Maybe they shouldn’t have started a pissing match with Google.
this is us not caring..

Well that looks like you care and are pissed.
Does this company do anything right?
The phone is actually pretty sweet. And awesome price.
I agree, the phone is awesome. But everything else the company does isn’t.
Yeah, they’ve certainly made some questionable decisions.
Maybe their Software developers couldn’t get invites to get phones for themselves to test it on?
I get they missed their deadline but I see virtually every OEM missing their deadlines on the Lollipop update. Weren’t they all quoting 90 days? Basically what I’m trying to say is…. they all suck. (Enter Nexus FTW comments)
Source(s)?
Sony – Well they said early 2015 for all Z series, guess early is up for debate. http://www.androidauthority.com/z-series-sony-lollipop-539790/
HTC/Samsung – as Franklin stated about HTC said 90 days and Samsung also said early 2015. I know some Note 4’s started receiving it but they are far from finished.
LG – one said end of last year http://www.androidauthority.com/lg-g3-android-lollipop-q4-2014-543857/. from the looks of it they actually lived up to that, crazy enough.
Sony said early 2015, March is still early 2015 which is when it started rolling out.
Technically, only HTC said they were going to do it within 90 days. Granted, they missed that 90 day window, but that was the only OEM to say they would do it.
Can we run a poll, it seems to be a thing lately, to see how many people is affected by this? Supposedly they sold a million units or so.
If they are waiting for an update to their os do they need the exact same phone they already have?

Does this company get ANYTHING right? Seems not.
LOOL. Who did not see this coming? . . . what a joke.
Anyway I couldn’t care less about Oxygen… they have 3 days for their Promised CM12s rollout. Let’s see what their excuse will be for that.
“We’ve been working so hard on OxygenOS that we haven’t had time to deal with those Cyanogen douchebags. Rest assured, CM12S will get here eventually. Eventually being several months after OxygenOS is released.”
This is kind of sad but, its being delayed because while the system works, the current recovery does not. So it was fixed yesterday and today and almost done, just a little left. Then we have to wait for Google again…
Just throw Stock on there and call it a day.
I think there should be a section on DL for “OnePlus Apologies”…
Much to the surprise of… Well… Not really anyone
Maybe they’ll have an invite system for the updates…
Cyanogenmod….like Android, just much worse.
