Helpouts, Google’s please-help-me-now-live-on-video-I-don’t-know-what-I’m-doing service that is powered by Hangouts, is closing on April 20. First reported by TechCrunch, Google has now announced via the Helpouts site that the service is being shut down because “it hasn’t grown at the pace we had expected.”

Since I never used the service, I can’t exactly say that I’m surprised or disappointed or sad or confused by the move. Apparently, though, few were using it and thus the cost to continue supporting Helpouts likely outweighed its userbase.

If you were a Helpouts user, you can find all sorts of answers to questions you might have about passed Helpouts, participating in new ones, etc. at this FAQ page.

Also, the Helpouts apps have already been pulled from the respective stores.
