Meet your next live wallpaper purchase – this is Minima Pro Live Wallpaper, made by the folks at Joko Interactive.
If you were looking for an app that perfectly tackles the current Material Design-style wallpaper trend, but makes it all interactive, alive, and extremely customizable, look no further. From dozens of pre-set themes, to automatic and random setups, to 3D parallax effects, to adjusting things like scale or rotation, this wallpaper could easily gobble up a couple of hours of your life. There is that much it can do. But at the same time, you could have it setup within a minute or two thanks to its randomizer setting.
It can even take a Material-style live wallpaper you have created and quickly turn it into a static wallpaper. Here are a bunch of examples from the app’s creator.
I would try explain the rest of its awesomeness, but the video below does a much better job. This is a visual app that needs to be seen.

It’s not only about battery killer, but also a lot about looks… common, what would be the point of a LWP if it doesn’t look right?
One of my favorite wallpapers by far for this winter is https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.startific.chameleon3dlwpfree
Oh. My. God. I am already soooooo tired of hearing and reading “material design.”
1440p screens aren’t ready for this, or vice-versa.
It was nearly flawless on my Turbo, until I opened the app drawer. Then it had an ever so slight jank to it swiping through the first screen of apps and my OCD found it unacceptable.
Best live wallpaper ever. Love the customization options.
Wow this is really a cool wallpaper app. You are right that you could potentially spend hours designing wallpaper themes. This will go great with my new moto x, the dark colored background look great on the amoled screen.
Hey Josh, can you tell us how did you get the effect shown in the photo above. I mean the colors in that preset, it looks really simple and elegant.
Sure, when I get a free minute.
Alrifghty, mate. 🙂
Its nice, but it will get boring after a while.
Nah.
To be fair. Once you’ve found the right setting, matched the right color and shapes (based on your own preference, which will take a while) then you’ll be happy and won’t mess with it anymore. Not a bad thing, FWIW.
This would be good if it would allow different wallpapers for lock screen and home screen. Although thinking about it, is that even possible with Lollipop?
I would like to know that as well.
I might be able to help, what device?
Nexus 5, Lollipop.
Bump 🙂
What device?
That 1080p @ 60FPS tho
Incredible. Immediate purchase!
Kellex- back to the Moto X as the daily driver?
Stopped watching at “3 icons”…
then you missed where you can set the number of icons
They are shortcuts to intents and you can remove them from the settings.
Damn it, I can’t not buy this after watching that.
Same
Anyone know a good icon pack that will go well with this?
Stock.
I don’t have lollipop yet
moonshine?
Misread this:
“This wallpaper could easily gobble up a couple of hours of your [battery] life.”
I literally did the same thing
It’d be nice to just have a bunch of those as static papers.
You can actually design whatever you like, and then save them as flat images. The dev is on point here.
Under Settings, there’s an option to take a still image of a live wallpaper, and use it as a normal wallpaper.
I’ve posted static wallpapers for all of the themes I created as albums in my G+ profile. One of those is linked in the article.
do people really buy wallpapers ? lol
Google Opinion Rewards haha
Yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuup #LanaKane
was wondering if there is any live wallpaper with material design which changes according to weather?
I use material walls to pick from a ton of material design wallpapers. That part isn’t live. BUT I also downloaded Weatherback Live Wallpaper, which shows weather effects on top of your current wallpaper. The mix of the two gives what you’re looking for
Been using the free beta for a few weeks now and I can attest that it’s totally worth it. They released it just in time cause I’ve saved up 2 bucks in survey credit just for this.
Fingernails bro….
I wish my Galaxy Note 4 performed as well as your phone, I might buy that app if it did.
Shouldn’t have bought a Samsung.
As soon as you made that wallpaper twerk, I went and bought it.
What clock widget is that?
I bet it’s Timely
You may be right.
It is Timely. I’ve been using that same widget for months now. 🙂
Thank you sir, installed. Do you use this over the stock alarm clock? If so why?
I do. The two main reasons I use it over stock is the look (absolutely beautiful) and that alarms sync between devices. That is indispensable to me.
Isn’t that the stock Clock widget from Lollipop? Timely is a lot bigger.
Looks a lot like Timely.
What frame rate was this shot at?
Right? It’s like Kellen’s hand was actually on my screen…I tried cutting his nails.
YouTube is rolling out 60 fps playback for videos recorded at 60 fps. Before it played everything at 30 fps. One of my favorite new YouTube features, but not many people are talking about it.
They demonstrated this on Verge a few weeks ago with Mario Kart 64. Mind was blown.
outside of gaming yeah
Hah, they aren’t that long! Although, I did just crush an orange and one is showing it. Check out my right thumb. Yikes.
60fps though. 🙂
I bought this app few days ago and i love it. I did turn off all the tilt shift effects. I haven’t notice any increase in battery usage. Love the randomizer. This app does add 4 shortcut icons to the app drawer.
You can hide the app drawer shortcuts if you don’t want them, first page in Minima Settings.
i know. I use the short cuts a lot actually. I was just giving the heads up. Keep up the great work!
I use 500 Firepaper from Chainfire.
Kellen sounds more impressed with this than Lollipop itself… 😛
It does look impressive though. I’ll give go…
Crazy creative. might actually hop on this. If there are alot of adopters I would love yo see a post your home screen day minima exclusive
Project Minima over on Google+ usually gets a couple theme shares a day. You can share your themes too, so anything you see can be imported right into your homescreen.

Battery life isn’t an issue….
…if you own a OnePlus One.
N6 owners – u mad?!
Sour grapes?
No… Why would we? Battery is great
Don’t mind him. He makes it his life to post on EVERY N6-related (and in some cases non-N6-related) DL articles denigrating the N6, usually based off of internet articles and no personal real world experience. The N6 experiences no more and no less issues and bugs than any other flagship phone (except in regards to availability because of their agreement to sell the bulk of the phones through carriers).
But he will get into a comment war in regards to Google vs Oppo. Probably envy but who knows, he also said a Nexus wouldn’t come to Verizon.
Actually the n6 has the best battery of any phone I’ve ever owned, g3, g2, s5, note 3, and multiple others, I love the battery life
Yeah, but it’s like… big and stuff, and also, something about small battery sizes and something else negative about cheap oled screens and stuff…
So, you’re the mayor of Trolltown?
Battery?
How’s the battery? That is one of the most important aspects you didn’t cover.
What do you expect from DL, goto AndroidPolice for better reviews..
HA! Good one.
The battery life will be worse than you not using the live wallpaper, as is true with any live wallpaper. That being said, the efficiency will vary depending on which phone you use it on.
If you are on your home screen a lot then it will probably have an impact on battery. But it seems that it only kicks in when showing and freezes when the screen is locked of in another app. So I don’t think it uses much.
You won’t notice any battery drain, Minima doesn’t run when the screen is off or you’re using another full screen app. In fact, it doesn’t even appear in the battery usage list in your system settings.
Do live wallpapers still drain the battery noticeably? That’s why I’ve stayed away recently… Like for the past 5 years…
Been years since I’ve tested, but it would surprise me if they did.
You back to the moto x?
I also want to know.
Minima will hardly touch your battery. All our live wallpapers turn off when you aren’t using them (screen lock, another full screen app, etc.). Give the free version a try and check System Settings / Battery list to see for yourself. It won’t even appear on the list.
Thanks for this response.

those are stock icons
This thing is amazing. The layers you have put together with your parallax effect is just gorgeous. Very nice LWP!
Better question is what’s going on with his cheese-puffy, orange, right thumbnail?
Good LWP’s have never bothered battery much. I have only ever noticed drain from poorly coded 3D LWP’s that don’t suspend properly when your screen is off.
Hasn’t been that way for a few years.
