  • These comments have become pathetic. I am embarrassed to admit I read them. Kellen, please fix this mess.

    Yes, I am embarrassed bro.

  • Wow Source code that you can’t use on any other device and better still you can’t even use this on this device device hardly.  Maybe someone can strip out all of the blur and make this thing stock.  I know way to many people that have sent these back.  Maybe Motorola’s new approach.  Let the community fix their bugs then include them in the next update.

  • You know what I would like to see released?……..The next stupid phrase that replaces “EPIC FAIL”!!

  • First off, I wanna post to all the do-tards out there that keep spamming this post. You like the Bionic. You dont like the Bionic. Who gives a crap. We each have our own opinions. Every phone company has its ups and downs. Sammy has a plastic build, but a great OS…if you can get past the iphone look. HTC has one of the nicest skins and runs smooth, but their battery life sucks. Moto has great hardware, but their OS is lacking. It’s ALL personal preference. There’s no need to bash others based on their piece of mind. Android is an OPEN SOURCE operating system, so get over your CLOSE MINDED thinking and let us each have our say.

Now, to the real ? at hand. What exactly does this mean for us who do have the Bionic right now? If we can already root our device, how will this help us?

  • Why do u nexus trolls even comment on these posts? Ill be buying a nexus the first day its available but I don’t put down decent phones just because. Very classy.

  • i just want to hear the release of ICS on the Bionic… otherwise i LOVE the phone. DROID Bionic owner and proud of it! (minus vzw bloatware… but that’s another story… and you know dont care about the bootloader anymore b/c i had the OG Droid and rommed the hell out of it and then it stopped notifying me of texts so yea keeping it stock for a while and im a-ok with that… as long as there is ICS that it

    • I wouldn’t hold my breath for ICS.  Given Motorola and HTC’s botched updates lately, and Samsung’s outlook to just not update phones ICS updates might not be running to phones likes crazy immediately after release.

      • Pretty sure Moto’s got the best update track record out there right now.

        Just sayin’.

        • m staying somewhat optimistic… although for tablets id say asus for updates… but moto for phones

  • I believe this definitely means one thing specifically that many are asking about:

    Overclocking/Underclocking WOOOT!

  • Wow, this is like a slap in the face for Bionic owners. Hey, we’re going to lock down your device but don’t worry since it’s an open source OS we will release source so we don’t violate the GPL…… Wow Motorola talk about a shiit bag move………

    • Andrew you should gets your facts straight before you start crying about things you obviously don’t know much about.

  • Let’s be honest here. The only “release” story we care to read on Droid-Life is the one that’s entitled “Release of Samsung Galaxy Nexus.”

    • Couldn’t have said it any better, the only release we care about is the Nexus. That’s a real phone not some wanna be Android BS. Hey, we’re putting out an open source phone, locking it down and then releasing source code for everybody!!!!!!! LOL EPIC FAIL this is why Motorola will never see my $ again. Those who do pay for this obviously have no idea what’s going on or simply just don’t get the point of Android.

      • Or maybe you have a opinion that no one cares about. I suppose all the developers are just stupid and dont understand the point of Android? Oh wait maybe its the fact Motorola makes excellent products! Its cool man I know its hard for you. You try to sound smart and make yourself look like a fool. Maybe you dont understand the point of Android. Get burned noob.

      • Oh my god dude stfu and chill out. We get it, you love the nexus. No reason to bash other solid phones.

      • “Those who do pay for this obviously have no idea what’s going on or simply just don’t get the point of Android.”

        Wow, what a pompous comment!

    • lets be honest here. I dont care one bit about a curved Galaxy SII.

I personally think its ugly and WAY too big. The curve? Well so much for putting it in my uniform pocket. Ill look like I have a boob or something

  • I hope Bionic will get update to ICS within a reasonable time, cause I’m going to find it hard not to jump to Nexus.

  • If they announce the Droid Razr has an unlocked bootloader tomorrow hell has officially frozen over.

      • even if they unlock it, a lot of people will cry anyways. They hate moto because moto is the best 🙂

        • I have to disagree…I love my OG Droid, and I will admit that Moto phones certainly aren’t junk…however Moto as a company has really been dropping the ball.  To be fair, so has HTC.  Everyone is entitled to a preference and an opinion, however I think we can all agree that the basic foundation of android is that it’s (supposed to be) open source and free for everyone to use as they wish (as opposed to iOS).  As someone who has a negative opinion of Moto, I can say that my frustration stems from the fact that they are the only manufacturer to ENCRYPT (not only lock, big difference) their bootloader and officially block any user of their phone from truly ever owning it.  Does everyone care about that?  No, but there is a large group of us who do.

          Remember folks…(see attached)

    • I love it, i dont regret a thing.  You gotta shit or ge off the pot.  Always something better around the corner.

      • I liked it till about a week ago; it has started not waking up by pushing the power button and I have to pull the battery to get it to reboot. It has started changing features and launching programs without user interaction. It has turned on airplane mode, turned off bluetooth, launched DLNA, and launched some Verizon video app. Then it started not connecting to data. The Verizon store rebooted it switched it to CDMA only and then back to CDMA/LTE and it connects again.

      • Please, the Bionic was the biggest let down of the year. Motorola has not made a solid device since the OG DROID. If you say I’m full of it then you’re just a brain washed fanboy……. fact

        • You must be an Idiot with an HTC phone.  Motorola’s equipment is top notch, yeah locked bootloader. I bet you don’t even know what you can do when a phone’s unlocked, so what’s it to you? and If you do? who cares.

Droid X is a perfect example of pure ownage. You can over/underclock it, 1% battery increments. The phone is twice the phone it was when it was released.

As far as the Bionic goes? It’s out and light years ahead of Iphone4s/HTC Thundercrap. It also runs smooth as hell without over/under clocking. It already has CWR, 1% battery increments, and just today P3Droid released code that will keep the phone Rooted from update to update with no problems. OWNED!

          • He gave you the facts. Moto has the whole lineup with gingerbread. Sammy and htc can not say that about their devices 🙂

          • As of what a couple weeks ago?  Give the Thunderbolt the same amount of time…. which was almost a year…. LOL

          • He said entire lineups. HTC keep flip flopping why devices will or won’t get Gingerbread because they can’t stuff their bloated Sense on devices that were released earlier this year (let alone last year), and Samsung just doesn’t care once you bought it. (Does any Galaxy S device have a working GPS).

I know facts just get in the way of a good meme, but you just wind up looking like an iTroll.

          • Motorola is making builds they can update, unlike HTC which is bloating up Sense so bad they can’t fit it on phones they released this year.

Shocking, I know, but the world doesn’t start and end with locked and unlocked phones.

          • I could not agree with you more. I want these idiots to tell me who can compare to Moto when it comes to radios, build quality and speaker quality 🙂

          • I’m a Moto person for ages, but the OG Droid is most likely my last. The reason is the locked bootloader and the inability to have a ROM installed. Without this my Droid would have been junk 12 months ago.
While they build great phones they need to adapt and change some aspects of their phones now.If Motorola made a real effort to work with developers and unlock this on their new phones they could save some customers.  Maybe the new RAZR, but if not Hello Sammy!

          • iphone 4 s lol what ajoke. They integrated it what android has been using since the droid.

        • stfu fgt. You Don’t know me. Motorola has never let me down. Fanboy? Hell no. It’s a fact that my phone is awesome. I have zero issues with it.

        • You are an idiot. The droid is the worse Moto device. That device just have 256 of ram. You only like it because it was unlock big deal. The droid x and the bionic are the best Moto devices right now. The razor will be the best period.

  • Last chance Moto..Have the Razr unlocked at launch and I’ll consider it. If not, Nexus FTW!

  • So what exactly does this mean??  Im already rooted but i dont care for custom ROMS. So what does this mean for me?

      • Im into customization, just not ROMS. To me, freezing bloat is the main reason i root. I use GoLauncher to customize my home screen. ROMS are too much work especially for someone who is not too up to date on hacking phones. I use one-click root.

        • You are good just by freezing bloats. changing roms it is overrated. As a matter of fact, the rom of the bionic is nice and the software is fast.

          • You say that now. But once official support for the device ends (6 months!?), a ROM looks better than a new phone.
