We thought it was coming tomorrow, but no, PopCap and EA have surprised us with the launch of Plants vs. Zombies 2 on Android today. You can grab it from Google Play this minute for free. After an initial launch on iOS (and a rumor about truckloads of money to keep it off Android), then launches on Android in China and Australia, the wait is finally over.
The timeline has gone from “early summer” to “summer” all the way down to “sometime this fall.” Even still, PopCap and EA assure us that Plants vs. Zombies 2 is coming eventually. The delay of the Android version of this game has gotten out of hand, but news today straight from inside EA say that there is a reason behind it: Apple has paid to keep it delayed. (more…)
The name of the game may be Plants vs Zombies 2: It’s About Time, but PopCap is asking for a little more development before they release their game. The game that was first promised in “early summer” was officially announced last month with a release date of July 18, but today PopCap took to Twitter to announce that release schedule isn’t going to be made. If you have the patience to stand when companies post ten second teaser videos for upcoming games, then this should put a big smile on your face. PopCap, the makers of the original Plants vs. Zombies game, began their teasing process for the upcoming mobile title, Plants vs. Zombies 2. From the entire twenty seconds we have seen so far, we know there will be pirate zombies, as well as some other characters that we aren’t as certain about.
Check below for the two trailers they have already released, plus they promise to release others in the short future. Hooray. (more…)
Plants vs. Zombies 2. Official. July 2013. Launch. That’s right, the follow-up to one of those most successful mobile games in recent memory (possibly of all time) is coming in two months. The official game title is “Plants vs. Zombies 2: It’s About Time,” which is a playful way of PopCap saying, “Yes, we know it’s taken us way too long to create this game, so we’re going to mock the situation.”
No other details have been given in terms of gameplay, but the last we had heard, it was supposed to arrive on Android this summer. This new comedic teaser trailer (if you can call it that), certainly matches up to that timeline.
I personally, cannot wait for this game. Probably one of my top three mobile games. (more…)
This morning, PopCap, the makers of the ever-so-famous Plants vs. Zombies title, announced that the official sequel is to touch down “early Summer.” No real details for Plants vs. Zombies 2 have been released yet, but that’s how hypebeastin’ goes. Let’s just hope it doesn’t take them forever to drop it on Android like the original. (more…)
Plants vs. Zombies, one of the more entertaining mobile games of the last few years, will have a sequel some time in the first half of 2013, according to the game’s creators. This morning, PopCap announced that the “underground growth” of the new PvZ is expected to launch by “late spring 2013.” They plan to introduce a bevy of new features, settings, situations, “designed to delight the franchise’s tens of millions of fans.”
Personally, I can’t wait. Plants vs. Zombies was one of those games that Android enthusiasts had to wait what seemed like an extraordinary amount of time to get. Hopefully this time around, they launch on a variety of platforms. (more…)
