We recently received a tweet, depicting a Galaxy S8+ owner’s battery usage statistics. According to him and the info displayed on his device, he’s not only getting a solid day of usage (24+ hours), but nearly 9 hours of screen on time (SoT). Excuse me? Come again? What is this wizardry? (more…)
As many of us graduate from our current phone to a Galaxy S8 or S8+, I will once again suggest you consider buying one of the cheap magnetic air vent car mounts you’ll find on Amazon. These little guys only cost a few bucks, yet they allow you to mount your phone without a ridiculous dashboard vise grip kit. All you have to do is slap one of these in an air vent and then attach your Galaxy S8 (or other phone) on the thing and it’ll stick. (more…)
After Samsung killed the original Bixby remap method, developers have been busy trying to figure out another work-around for your Galaxy S8 or S8+. They didn’t release specific numbers, but you have to assume we’re talking about a lot of phones. Samsung said that pre-orders were 30% higher than the Galaxy S7 from the year prior. Samsung’s pre-orders sure seem to be going up with each new phone, including the Note 7 and its record-setting numbers. (more…)
After hearing a reasonable number of complaints from Galaxy S8 owners who noticed a red tint in their phone’s displays, Samsung will issue a software update to give them more control over display color settings. According to the Wall Street Journal, another update will aim to fix buggy WiFi in Korea. That’s two updates within the first couple of weeks of the Galaxy S8’s life, in case you were keeping track. The Galaxy S8 and S8+ do not have Samsung’s standard physical home button. Whether that affects you or not, I could see where long-time Galaxy fans could be disappointed since they’ll have to learn the ways of the on-screen navigation bar. However, the company is doing one cool thing with the virtual home button that should bring everyone bundles of joy. (more…)
