Talk about a lovely surprise – wake up to find an Android 4.3.1 update showing as available on your Nexus 7 LTE (2013). The update is a 9.4MB file that jumps the N7 LTE up to build JLS36I, however, we have no idea what’s new. A x.x.1 update typically doesn’t mean much, but we have also seen 4.3 updates that stuck with 4.3 and didn’t give us the additional .1. There must be something new. Once we know what it is, we’ll be sure to pass it along.
At this time, we haven’t received word of an update to the WiFi only 2013 Nexus 7 or any other Nexus. We wouldn’t doubt it if they all start to rollout shortly, though. (more…)
Who cares if Android 4.4 aka Kit Kat is just around the corner? Most users on stock firmware are still waiting to get updated to Android 4.3. Samsung made sure that the Galaxy Note 3 would launch with Android 4.3, but so far the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S4 are still on 4.1.2 and 4.2, respectively. Although today, a leaked build of Android 4.3 for both phones have been released for those adventurous Galaxy owners that don’t mind flashing sketchy firmware builds. (more…)
Owners of the HTC One on Sprint should start seeing an update to Android 4.3 today, according to a recent tweet from HTC’s US president. This news is a relief to hear, after reports last week stated that the update would go past HTC’s self-appointed deadline of the “end of September.” We will give HTC some credit, given that it’s only October 2. Any HTC One owners on a US carrier hoping to get in on the Android 4.3 fun, might be waiting a little longer than anticipated. The update already rolled out to the unlocked and developer edition variants of the device, but according to HTC’s US president, the update for the device on any carrier might go past the September 30 deadline they set on themselves. HTC told announcement a couple of days ago that we should see an Android 4.3 update for the HTC One Developer Edition before the end of the week. That update is now rolling out to both the Developer Edition and Unlocked variant of the phone here in the U.S. as build 3.22.1540.1. As you can see in the image above, my unlocked version is a part of the rollout. (more…)
After deciding that the Android 4.2.2 update was too minor to worry about here in the States, HTC will go ahead and push Android 4.3 to the HTC One Developer Edition this week. Jason Mackenzie, HTC’s president of global sales, took to Twitter this afternoon to announce the news. The update will include the latest Sense 5 experience, along with a number of Android enhancements (notification toggles for one) that were introduced in 4.2. (more…)
The factory image for the minor Nexus 7 WiFi update to Android 4.3 build JSS15R is now available. Binaries too. Go get ’em. (more…)
A new Android 4.3 update is currently rolling out to the new Nexus 7 WiFi models this week as build JSS15R. The update is tiny, so we’re not even sure if it does much but fix bugs. We were hoping that it would address the ongoing touch-screen issue saga, but reports out of Google’s support forums aren’t giving us much hope.
The update is 8.0MB in size and can be grabbed by visiting Settings>About tablet>System updates, if it hasn’t already downloaded automatically for you. (more…)
