Amazon Prime Video Brings Premium Subscriptions Including Showtime and Starz

In the never-ending battle for streaming video subscribers, Amazon announced the Streaming Partners Program, aimed to bring more on-demand content to Prime members. If you are one of the Amazon Prime members who often forgets the streaming video included in your membership, like myself, Amazon is offering discounts and benefits on premium subscriptions like Showtime and Starz.

Step one to this program is signing up for Amazon Prime, if you aren’t already, and heading to Amazon’s Prime Video landing page. Once there, you can browse through a few of the premium services that Amazon has partnered with. Adding one of these premium subscriptions isn’t completely free, but Amazon is giving free trials to these subscriptions to start, and discounted monthly rates if you decide you like one enough to keep it. It looks like prices will vary from service to service, but services like Showtime and Starz will cost you $8.99 each month in addition to your Prime subscription.

Unfortunately, Amazon can’t foot the bill for the entire monthly subscription cost, but there are other features of this service that could come in pretty handy, specifically the fact that the latest episodes of shows will be available for online watching simultaneously with the broadcast. And giving users the ability to manage all these subscriptions from one place and integration with Fire TV could make this a pretty attractive option if you are in that ecosystem already.

These subscription add-ons are live for Prime members today.
