HD Widgets 3.8 Released – Supports New Colourform Theme, Which is Actually Beautiful

hd widgets

HD Widgets, one of the most popular clock/weather/settings widgets on Android, received an update today to version 3.8. In this update, support was introduced for their new theme called Colourform. As you can see in the screenshots above and below, Colourform matches up to the styling of Android 4.2, something we’re big fans of.

As with most of their widgets, you are able to tweak the background, opacity, tiles and textures, and theme of the actual clock. In the screenshots below, you’ll get the best view of this new Colourform theme. For whatever reason, they are only calling this a “test” theme, but going forward this should make HD Widgets more open to additional themes.

Beyond the support for themes, HD Widgets 3.8 does include a new feature that looks worthy of an install, and that’s Notification Widgets. As you’ll see below, you can turn on both battery and weather widgets in the notification pulldown. The weather widget is also expandable, so that you can see additional info. Not bad.

  • andrew galvin

    what is that wallpaper?

    • Shaunwin

      Which one?

  • mgamerz

Upon updating my Nexus 7 rebooted.

  • Jay Ochs

weird, i can’t add them to my screen. the 4×1 doesn’t let me do the widget pack, but when i go into the app and look through them, it won’t let me add to desktop…maybe it’s unfinished and only supports the 4×2 clock for now?

  • viewthis66

    love this update…

  • Joshyz73

Does this solve the issue of causing rooted Nexus 7s to randomly reboot?

    • Havoc70

That’s a known 4.2 issue not necessarily HD Widgets

    • Raven

That was solved several versions ago and was not so much a problem with the widget, but with how it was triggering a bug in the GPS system to cause a reboot. If you are still having reboots, I highly doubt it is from HD widgets.

      • Joshyz73

I don’t have the reboots since I uninstalled HD Widgets. I can’t remember how long ago it was, I think a month or two ago. That was the top cause listed when I was searching for a fix. I really like HD Widgets, and no problems on my other tablet or phone with the app. I think I may have to try again on the N7.

Now THESE are really nice looking.

  • Philip A. Kaiser

Does that really say it will take 6hrs and 50min until your battery is full. From 95%!?!?

You charging a laptop through your phone? Lol

I wish they had larger widgets for tablets, but it sounds like it might be coming. This + simple graphics for weather forecasts could be cool

    • Havoc70

I am using it on My N7 and the clock/weather widget works nice. Don’t know about using it on a 10″ tablet

  • Havoc70

    Kellex,

I dont see the notification install, am i missing something?

    • Latiff

You activate it within the settings menu of HD Widgets.

      • Havoc70

        Great thank you

  • J. Gilbertson

    Amazing!

am i the only one that can’t stand google’s bold hours? is that changeable in some settings. i don’t own a device with 4.2 yet. i think that’s so ugly though.

    • Havoc70

Each set of numbers is changeable Hours, Minutes, even the dots between the numbers. I installed this morning and already using it. Looks and works great

      • bydavidrosen

good to know haha cause i was NOT looking forward to that haha

    • KyleWay

No, you absolutely are not the only one. I have 4.2 on my Galaxy Nexus, however, since it is a custom ROM I don’t have to deal with the hideously ugly clock!

    • TheDrunkenClam

I absolutely love the new bold clock. It looks great against the latest 4.2 wallpapers.

    • NemaCystX

Its not horrendous but I immediately disliked the new lockscreen which is where this clock comes from in 4.2

      my opinion

    • Philip A. Kaiser

Holy cow, i saw the post and scrolled down to make that exact same comment.

Not really a fan myself, but we couldn’t ignore it ;-)

    • Gritchu

I absolutely hate the bolded hours. It was the first thing I noticed with my last Nexus 7 update and it bugs the hell out of me every time I turn the device on. It went from a nice sleek looking clock to that mess over night. Sadly with the N7 there is no way to change it. From what I’ve read, this widget is fully customizable though.

  • Chris King

look nice, I use zooper widgets myself
