Global Samsung Galaxy SIII Stops by Bluetooth SIG

When phones are announced and on the verge of release, we like to see certain things happen, one of them is a device cruising through Bluetooth SIG. Think of it like a certification process for phones that are Bluetooth enabled. It’s nothing major, but something that can be checked off the release schedule list.

So seeing the Samsung Galaxy SIII pop up in it over the weekend is not surprising, but exactly what should happen for a phone that is about to take over the world. Sammie told us that it would be out at the end of May for many countries, with a potential June rollout here in the States. These Bluetooth SIG listings show the phone headed to Australia, Africa, Asia and Europe with model numbers GT-I9300 and GT-I9300T.

After a full weekend with it on your brain, are you still have mixed feelings over this phone?

This isn’t taking over anything. It’s actually a disappointment… Sorry Sammie

The white looks beautiful on the phone. Too bad the damn SUPER AMOLED SCREEN CAN’T SHOW PROPER WHITES. I’m tired of seeing yellowish or bluish tints on my Gnex compared to the screen on my old iPhone 4…

    • EC8CH

Up the brightness a bit and the dirty whites become less noticeable.

      • Azn_Android

I value my battery life 🙂 I have a spare battery but It becomes a pain to charge both so I try to avoid using the second one unless im out all day. I got 5 hours of screen on time yesterday, a personal record. And yeah they become less noticeable but still there.. I probably shouldn’t have gotten a phone with Super AMOLED… Oh well >< LCD screens for me once I can upgrade.

  • LiterofCola

    No thanks, I’m good.

  • sk3litor

im actualy starting to like this phone. i mean besides the hippie nature thing. but the phone itself im kinda diggin the more i see it

  • TheDude

Nope. If this phone was on Verizon, even with a dual core S4, it would be the best phone available. No brainer.

    • LionStone

Even ‘if’ it still has a crummy radio and doesn’t really perform that well as a “phone”? Which is the first thing that it should do well, not to mention if it drops call and has problems handing off radios.

The other day I was comparing gps fixes with a couple phones in VZW. Although the GN found my location fine, it did not ‘hold’ the fix…it was bouncing all over the place. Whereas HTC and Moto phones held the fix. Maybe after the latest update the GN is
better with regards to gps fix?

  • SpikedRed

I can only reserve judgement for when the phone comes to Verizon, and I can try it out in the store.

  • MotoRulz

Perhaps there are a few things to dislike about this phone, physical home button, but IMO the way it looks isn’t one of them. I’m a Motorola guy at heart but I believe this phone looks good.

    • EC8CH

I think most of the outer design disappointment comes from their failure to use more high end materials. The HTC One phones upped the anticipation that samsung would use something other than glossy plastic. The rumor was some sort of ceramic.

      • Dr_Buttballs

For some reason the white version doesn’t look as bad to me as the blue version. Maybe because the ugly chrome rim isn’t as noticeable.

I wish manufacturers would stop making smooth-backed phones. It’s all about the soft-touch/matte finish in my book. Much easier to grip and no fingerprints (unless you just polished off a piece of greazy Costco pizza).

    • Droidzilla

      /Homer Simpson Voice

      Mmmm . . . Costco pizza . . .

      • Trevor

        Haha, I love that stuff.

        • Droidzilla

Seriously. I just had some yesterday along with my $5,000 grocery bill (feels that high since I have to buy things in quantities of 100). I don’t know if there are amphetamines in there or what, because it’s so dang addictive.

          • EC8CH

            Costco Pizza is PEOPLE!

          • Droidzilla

            Delicious, delicious people.

          • Trevor

Their people taste alright too, but I really prefer the pizza.

          • EC8CH

            Try their Soylent Green.

          • Butters619

Get a slice of Costco Pizza and a Chicken Bake. It’s like crack and meth.

          • Droidzilla

Chicken Bake is the crack to Costco pizza’s meth for sure. Heart attacks never sounded so wonderful.

          • Trevor

Every time I go in that store, I end up spending at least $100 more than I plan to. For some reason, everything in there just seems so much cooler simply because it’s at Costco. Maybe it’s the fact that it’s all so ginormous. I’m not quite sure.

          • LiterofCola

Yep, it is impossible to leave Costco without spending at least a hundred.

    • like Troy responded I am inspired that a mother able to earn $8647 in 1 month on the computer. have you seen this website LâzýÇãsh5.Çom

  • BigLa

Still mildly optimistic that it will be released in the states minus the physical buttons. Give me that and 1.5g S4 and I’d probably take it over the Nexus.

  • frankandsimple

    it’s pentile!!.. enough said.

  • sti

    another samsung design……

  • Anyone else think it may not be a coincidence that Verizon’s double-data promo is ending at the beginning of June?

    • FortitudineVincimus

    • No

    • Larizard

  • I’m not terribly disappointed with the look of the design. I just was not blown away in any regard…. unless battery life stats come out and it has really good life, I’ll keep my $$$ and wait on something else.

  • Droidzilla

My feelings aren’t mixed. I’m still definitively disappointed.

    • EC8CH

      You must hate nature.

      • Droidzilla

Nature sucks. I need to know my Android handset can stave off a horde of robot ninjas; that’s what’s relevant to my interests.

    • FortitudineVincimus

      my words exactly… thief

    • Austinrgoebel

      Yup me to

    • Butters619

They nailed storage and battery, but missed on overall design.

  • sc4fpse

Gah, Kellex, don’t get my hopes up like this. As a Verizon customer, “global” means something completely different to me than “GSM/HPSA+ version.”

    • frankandsimple

you ARE aware that if it has global radios built into it.. (like many of Verizon phones).. you can unlock it for free thru verizon and use it with a GSM Sim Card right?

Verizon is the only carrier that unlocks phones.. even iphone 4s for GSM use internationally.

      • sc4fpse

AFAIK, Verizon has not made any announcement that it would be carrying this device.

  • I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. This design is ugly. If they don’t revise it by the time it comes to the states… I just might… *gulp* Look into the LTE2! There! I said it. Surely I’m not the only one who thinks this is simply horrendous looking, what with all the nature hoo-ha. The outside looks like it will be a fingerprint and scratch MAGNET.

The white version is alright, but hopefully we get a re-design here in the states

      • Some other guy

no more capacitive buttons… please, you’re killing me samsung…

      • FortitudineVincimus

        Oh.. we will

single core, 1500mah battery, 2mm thicker, bloated, and 4 months after the fact

        • DROID DOES

Well they said June, so hopefully they stick to that; also I was thinking that we may actually be getting on-screen buttons
