New DROID Bionic XT875 Lands in Verizon Cellebrite, Launch Date is Completely Up in the Air at This Point

Verizon’s Cellebrite systems have been updated to reflect the existence of the newest version of the DROID Bionic that you have all been waiting for.  As you can see from the shot above, we have both the old (XT865) and new version (XT875) listed now which would lead us to believe that we’re at least getting sort of close.  We’ve reported multiple times on a possible 9/1 release date, but there are still those that think we could see it by August 4.  This would seemingly be a sign that 8/4 is still a strong possibility, however, I personally won’t be holding my breath.

*Note – Unless of course Moto, @MDB228 and a variety of sources are all playing one big trick on us and it will be here August 4 after all.  At this point, it’s completely up in the air.

Update:  To add some additional info to the post, we wanted to point out that the DROID3 popped up in Cellebrite back in May and was not released to stores until July 14.  So by no means does this mean we’re just 1-2 weeks away, but is still a good sign that we’re getting there.

This is a positive development though!  I’d say we’re closer than we have ever been.

Cheers ___!

Thanks a lot for providing individuals with such a brilliant possiblity to read critical reviews from this website. It is often very beneficial and as well , full of a great time for me personally and my office colleagues to search your blog on the least 3 times in a week to see the latest things you have. And lastly, I’m usually contented considering the very good opinions served by you. Selected 2 facts in this post are ultimately the very best I have ever had.

Since Verizon has taken so long to release a new phone, it has given me time to realize something…I don’t NEED a new phone. The phone I have now (DInc) is perfectly fine. It does exactly what I need it to do. I do not actually NEED a new phone…I’ve waited so long now for the Bionic I’ve realized that it will not improve my life in any way that my currrent phone hasn’t already. I don’t NEED a dual core proc. I don’t really even NEED 4g…

I’m 100% sincere when I say thank god that verizon has taken its time with this phone. Had they come out with it 4 months ago, I probably would have lemming’d into it and bought one, but honestly, I just don’t NEED more power in a phone than I already have….thank you Verizon, for reminding me of the difference between wants and needs.

I have to express some thanks to the writer just for bailing me out of this particular challenge. As a result of scouting throughout the the web and getting things which are not productive, I thought my life was done. Existing minus the approaches to the difficulties you have sorted out by way of your entire website is a crucial case, and ones that might have adversely affected my career if I had not noticed the blog. Your actual competence and kindness in handling everything was useful. I’m not sure what I would’ve done if I had not discovered such a stuff like this. I can also at this time look forward to my future. Thanks a lot so much for this high quality and effective help. I will not be reluctant to propose your blog post to any individual who needs and wants care about this topic.

I paid $ 32.86 for a XBOX 360 and my mom got a 17 inch Sony laptop for $ 94.83 being delivered to our house tomorrow by FedEX. I will never again pay expensive retail prices at stores. I even sold a 46 inch HDTV to my boss for $ 650 and it only cost me $ 51.78 to get. Here is the website we using to get all this stuff,  http://to.ly/aPJW

Love this: “I’d say we’re closer than we have ever been.”

Regardless of what phone release you’re talking about, what you “know” about what has been rumored, etc., this statement will always be true for any un-released phone.

    Epic.

While you are correct in a literal term, this is a figure of speech.  I assume that he means that we are starting to see more tangible signs of an impending launch rather than a “we’re one day closer” literal approach.

Have fun with the remaining portion of the new year. You are performing a really good job.

  • Stelv81

People are becoming too consumed with the hardware aspect of phones and not with the software, performance, battery life and dependability. Plenty of phones operate and will operate into the future very well that are only 3g, single core, etc. Dinc2 is a shining example of how a single core with a bump in ram can be fast, perform with no lag and have abnormally long battery life.

    • daniel walsh

      droid inc 2 is underrated

      • Stelv81

Thank you. Nice to here this.

    • bmac420

performance, battery life and dependability would be nothing without the proper hardware.  all the software does is tie it all together.  without the proper hardware any software will run like dog poo.

      • Stelv81

Motorola has successfully created lag on both their dual core x2 and droid 3 with their software. The Inc2 has zero lag thanks to proper hardware and speed optimized bug free software. I am not saying hardware is not important, but that Moto seem to just concentrate on hardware and not on optimizing their software….and then we all get hyped up because we get excited about the promise of hardware alone creating a high performance device.

        • http://twitter.com/Beer_Man_Mike Michael Bassett

Lag on the droid 3? Dude, don’t be a hater…reports are the new motoblur 3d is awesome.

          • Stelv81

I have used the Droid 3 many times and while I think it is a decent phone, it lags…compared to no lag on the Inc2. The X2 is even worse in the lag department. I was considering all 3 phones and I bought the one that performed the best and it happens to only be a single core device.

          • Anonymous

There have been reviews noting lag on the D3 going back to home screens, etc.   Lag is something I don’t expect at all on a dual core device running Gingerbread.  My D1 was close to no lag with GB and overclocked @ 1Ghz.  Dual 1Ghz phones should have ZERO lag.

    • bmac420

oh… and you just noted a bump in hardware to increase performance…

    • Anonymous

Let me give you some reasons why people are consumed with specs.

In November 2009, the OG Droid was released.  Great phone, rockin specs, blew the doors off anything else at the time.  It is also IMHO *the* Android phone that kicked the Android revolution into high gear. Over the last year and half, it has been sluggish for those attempting to get GB working on them.  Overclocking helps but they are still sluggish.  They also came with what should have been a decent camera but blew.

Fast forward to today.  The OG Droids are dying fast (way too fast if you ask me) and most are coming off contract.  Those owners want that powerhouse feeling again.  The Bionic has been hyped up just like the OG Droid was back in 2009.  It has what everyone wants (at least from what has been leaked).  But this time, there are a lot of us that have OG Droids that have died or offer only partial functionality.  We need this phone NOW.  After being denied a May launch, this is getting ridiculous.  If there was another phone equiv from another manufacturer, it would be game over for Moto.

To us, specs (and software) make all the difference.  We want these phones semi future proof so when Ice Cream Sandwich arrives we are not denied the update like the OG Droid was denied the Gingerbread update.  THAT is why specs are sooooo important.  2 years is a long time till the next one…..

      • MattInPDX

My OG Droid runs super snappy on this GB. http://www.droid-life.com/2011/07/22/custom-rom-friday-project-elite-6-5-for-og-droid/

I’ve used GP15, GPA16 and CM7, none of those compare with how fast Project Elite runs on it.

        • Anonymous

Sorry mine died before it made it to this rom.   Though give it time and *then* see if it is super snappy.  I’ve flashed dozens of roms and find there is a “this is fast” honeymoon but after a period of time find that it either slows down or has a bug that I can’t live with.

  • http://twitter.com/FikesDerFuhrer gary fikes

Man, the waters are sure getting muddy if the Bionic does in fact launch in September. The Samsung GS2, Moto Droid Bionic, and iPhone 5 all launching within weeks of each other (I know most of you on this site won’t pay attention to the iPhone 5 launch, but the market sure will and it will definitely bring competition). Not to mention the rumored Nexus Prime arriving shortly thereafter in late Fall. This summer has been a serious drought as far as good phones go, but we are about to get rained on. Why do the powers that be do this? Wouldn’t each of them sell better if they launched spaced part?

No, a cellebrite has models from all carriers in it, hence if you come from a nexus to vzw you can get your contacts transferred. Means nothing that nexus is in there.

That’s my point, it means nothing.  This has never been an indicator of a phone model coming or a release time frame for a known phone.

I’m just wanting Mr. Walsh to show me a concrete August date for the SGS 2.  Because everything I have seen so far is rumor as well.

  • http://twitter.com/mfg68 MFG

My main reasoning for an August release is that Apple is rumored to be announcing the iPhone 5 at the end of August for purchase in September, making September all about the iPhone. Wouldn’t Motorola want to release in August so they can get in early?

Not to be a complete skeptic, but all of the 9/1 rumors you’ve heard have been afterthoughts in other articles.  Where do the rumors come from, how are they relevant, what makes them more credible than 8/4 rumors?

    • Sean

I respect you wanting to keep sources private, otherwise there’d be no reason for them to entrust you with such information, but I’d like a solid reason to believe it :)

    • Anonymous

I was thinking the same thing…. Where did the Sept date come from?

    • Branshaw09

Amen.  As soon as I read this, the first thing that came to mind was “There’s that 9/1 date again that Kellex keeps saying (in passing) but wont elaborate on”.

    • Dabruise
      • Sean

not necessarily, considering third party retailers have been putting new devices on sale about 2 weeks later than VZW retailers.  that would point more toward an august 4 release.

        • Dabruise

Well I hope so.  Sooner the better.  My charging port is messed up on my Incredible  and this is what i  been wanting for my next phone.

I could see VZW and someone like BB having exclusives on the launch but dag gone it, we’re getting too close to the 4th to not be hearing a sound.  You know what, give me a Bugonic on the 4th because its better than the Motorola OG Droid that has failed leaving me with no smart phone.  Bugs are better than nothing.  Just keep the OTAs coming until its right.
