  • I don’t know about 10 hour battery life, unless they mean “the battery dies in 10 hours whether you’re using the tablet or not.”

I actually think battery life is borderline unacceptable in both the Nexus 7 and Nexus 10.

    • That’s odd, my Nexus 7 has pretty good battery life. Of course mine is not stock. I run the Atom ROM on my Nexus 7. I’ve never used a Nexus 10.

      • Well, everything’s relative. They’re better than the Nexus 4, but much worse than the iPad.

My biggest complaint is how much battery they lose while in standby.

        • Mine loses about 20-30% a day in standby…which is pretty high. I can cut them down to near nothing by turning off wifi when screen is off… but that gets rid of too much functionality for me.

  • Awesome ad!!! My favorite part is where the soldier returns from years of war and says, “hey, you put your chocolate in my peanut butter!”. And then his wife is all like, “No, you put your peanut butter in my chocolate!”. And they both laugh and stuff. Wait. Nevermind.

  • Despite all these commercials I still haven’t met anyone who wasn’t into tech who knows what a Nexus anything is. They need more marketing.

    • When I purchased my Nexus 7 back in November at Game Stop the guy said they were selling like crazy. Someone must be hearing about them.

      • Well there certainly are, I’m just saying get 100 random people in a room and I bet (aka guessing) 80+ will know what an iPad is and maybe 5-10 will know what a Nexus device is.

        • Yes and it wouldn’t hurt if they sold them everywhere.

I think it was a test to see how well they would do. In the future I bet they will push it more since it has done pretty well.

  • It’s so nice to see that not only is Google is finally advertising their devices, but the commercials are so damn good.

  • Were there significant battery life improvememnts in 4.2.2? I’ve never managed to get more than 7 myself.

    • I noticed a huge improvement in battery life! Not sure if it is 10 hours but a huge improvement non the less.

    • My Gnex(toro) is running a PUB build of 4.2.2 AOKP and the battery life has been great. I usually charge it before bed, then take it off and I wake up with ~75-80% left, but this morning I woke up with 92%.

Haven’t tried it on my N7 yet. :C

          • This, and it is also my alarm clock. Then I just charge it up while I’m getting ready in the morning and it is usually back up to ~100%.

          • Big thumbs up to that one. Its a great thing for one person to not only think of ones self but also the needs of others. Everyone should be aware of their surroundings.

      • That kind of standby has been obtainable for sometime with the Gnex with custom ROMS/Kernels. Mine & my wife’s never lost more than .5% per hour screen off. Now screen on…that always feel like pouring water out of a bucket.

        • Every night I unplug my phone before bed at 100%. When I wake in the morning I am always at 90%. So it loses 10% while doing nothing over 8 hours.

          • It has a lot to do with your cellular signal strength.I always keep mine plugged in at night…probably from anxiety some crazy wakelock would drain my battery and the alarm wouldn’t go off.

          • I have somewhat poor reception in my house. I seem to have this thing finely tuned now. But I know what you mean. Back when I first got the phone I had a few times where the thing seemed to die almost instantly. Luckily that stuff is easily fixed.

      • Hope the improvements are as profound as you say they are, battery life is the one thing I hate about my gnex. And out of curiosity, why don’t you charge your phone over night?

        • I used to, but I feel like sitting on the charger for that long could be bad. My battery started to crap out at about 7 months into having the phone. So I got a new one and I try to not keep it sitting on the charger.
