  • Once I install it and open it it says theres a update available ( Install ) ( Quit) i click install and I have to buy the freaking update for $20 bucks! This is a bunch of bullsh!t!!!

  • when 2.1 OTA was being pushed, like many of us, i didn't wait and did the manual install [update.zip] and have left update.zip in the root of SD since. do i need to remove that update.zip prior to running DM?

    • ya remove it from your SD card or copy over to your computer and rename it to android 2.1 update 1 or something like that so you know what it is. Just remember to name it update again if you would ever install it for some reason again.

  • Ok, so I still don't have an answer as to why I keep getting an installation aborted message on my phone when I try to root it. I was told if my version of software was 2.1, then I could not root my phone. Where would I look to find what version I have? And if I do have this version, does that mean I really cannot root my phone? I was able to get the dm updater, but it kept upgrading to the newest version when ever I tried to open the program. Would the new version becausing me trouble while trying to root? If I can still root my phone, what do I need to do to get it rooted? Please help!!

    • If I use one or both of these programs, 2.0.1 root update.zip and Droidmod 1.0 Updater (alt link), would it fix the problem I am having with the installation aborted message when I try to root my phone? Which one should I use? What would happen if I use them? Help!!

  • i need help after i download from sd it tells me istallation aborted? ive been rooted before but tried to install mod 5.6.1 and rom manager stop working so i tried to reinstall backup but went too far now i have 2.1 update, ESE81 and i still have the SU ninja on my phone but cant use rom manager? i even tried SPF file download through RSD lite but when i download spf it say unsuccesfull? can someone please help me

    I have installed and us Astro File to make certain that the DMUPDATER is in the root /sd directory adn it is, but still no love.

    I have used astro file to make certian that it is in the /sdcard directory. still nothing

      • When will there be instructions for rooting after 2.1 please? Your video is the best I have seen and I'd feel more comfortable doing this using your video.

  • I keep getting an “Installation aborted” message while trying to install the update from the android system recovery screen.

    It says
    “E:EOCD marker occurs after start of EOCD
    E:signature verification failed
    Installation aborted.”

    I do have android 2.1 installed so I was wondering if that's the problem?

      • Same here! I got the 2.1 OTA update yesterday. and now i decided to root my phone but “installation aborted” keeps popping up.

  • I can not find the D M up dater on the web site. Can you help me please. Will I down load this on my computer???

  • so i took the plunge and installed DroidMod. now my phone doesn't charge when hooked up via USB to my computer, which it used to do. i can only charge via the wall-charger.

    i dug around in settings and couldn't see anything to change this. maybe i missed something.

    is this typical? or did i miss something?

  • i just tried to root my phone and at the end of part 2 of the video when the phone is suppose to shut off and re boot it self, my phone shut down then turned on to the moto sign and seems to be stuck at that screed for the past 15 min or so? how long should this take?

      • ok tried that and it went to reboot command, then i clicked reboot and it showed moto sign blanked out then moto sign came back on and its still stuck at that screen?

        Great how to video. I am also having the same issue as biggantlive. I have tried the battery pull several times and now the moto logo comes on and off. Not sure what to do from here.

  • I cant seem to get DMUpdater to show up on my phone…Any help. I did download it and then mount my phone and dragged it over to my SD card. Am I missing a step?

    • I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I DOWNLOADED FROM WEBSITE, MOUNTED MY PHONE AND COPIED IT TO MY SD. ONCE IM DONE WITH THAT THE FILE IS ON THE ASTRO MANAGER AS A ZIP FILE WITH ONLY 5 OPTIONS: ANDROID MANIFEST,CLASSES,META-INF,RES, AND RESOURCES ….PLEASE HELP!

      • Do you have the “Unknown Sources” box checked under Settings>Applications? If not try that…Droid will not let you run an .apk file obtained from outside the Android Market unless you do.
