Walmart announced that Tap to Pay is coming to its stores, which is actually kind of nuts in 2026. Its one of this country’s largest retailers, so the fact that it’s taken this long is pretty wild. Regardless, it’s coming and Google Pay will be very much supported.
Tap to Pay will begin its rollout across Walmart and Sam’s Club locations beginning next week, with availability completion set for the end of 2026. Fuel stations will see the same rollout and completion by mid-2027.
Starting next week, shoppers can tap to pay using Google Pay for a quicker and more secure buying experience at select Walmart stores and Sam’s Club locations in the U.S., with plans to roll it out to all U.S. stores and clubs by the end of 2026 and to fuel stations by mid-2027.
