Pixel’s At a Glance Can Finally Be Turned Off in Latest QPR3 Beta!

We did it, y’all. The multi-year battle is over. We won. Google has finally given in and is letting us fully turn off the “At a Glance” widget on Pixel phones and reclaim the space as our own. I almost can’t believe it.

For those not familiar with what I’m referring to, Google has included a dedicated non-removable widget on its Pixel phones called “At a Glance.” This is the little date and weather area that lives in the top left corner on your main home screen that can also show upcoming calendar events, provide flight statuses, and probably other things, but honestly, I’ve turned almost all of it off because I’ve been asking for a toggle to turn it off for more years than I can keep track of. We started asking as early as 2020 and never stopped. Others have been there with us.

In the latest Android 16 QPR3 Beta 1 update, Google has introduced a toggle that does indeed let you fully turn it off. And not only that, but when you turn At a Glance off, the space becomes yours. You can put app shortcuts there, a different clock widget, your calendar, whatever! The 4×1 or 5×1 space is now not owned by Google’s Pixel. This is big.

How to turn off Pixel At a Glance:

1. Long-press the At a Glance widget and choose Settings
2. At the top should now be two toggles of “Use At a Glance” and “Show on home screen”
3. To get rid of it on your home screen only, un-toggle that bottom option
4. Done.

What’s cool here is that Google understands that maybe you want At a Glance on your lock screen, but would rather have the space for something else on your home screen. So that’s why we have two toggles. You can continue to “Use At a Glance” and see all of that information on your lock screen, but if you want your home screen clear, you can turn that off – or leave both on too!
