Users on reddit are discovering, and confirmed by Google to Android Police this week, ultrasonic presence sensing is headed out to the Nest Hub and Nest Hub Max.

What is this magical technology I’m referring to, you may ask? Using high frequency sound emitted from the device’s speaker, which is shot out and then fed back into the device via its microphones, the Nest Hub and Nest Hub Max can now determine your physical location in relation to the device.

In utilizing this information, the Hub’s display may show a larger font for text if you’re standing further away or touch controls may be shown if you’re standing close to the device.

What a trip, man.

If you own a Nest Hub or Nest Hub Max, you should see this new functionality hitting your device starting today.
