Pioneer announced a new lineup on in-dash receivers last night, all of which support Android Auto. Not only do they support Google’s mobile platform for cars, but they support it wirelessly, meaning there is no need to always plug your phone into your vehicle to initiate Android Auto.

For model numbers, we have AVIC-W8400NEX ($1199), AVIC-W6400NEX ($799), and AVH-W4400NEX ($699). The top of the line unit is the 8400, coming in at $1200. For that price, you get a DVD/CD receiver with 7″ color touchscreen, Bluetooth, remote control, Miracast capability, Apple CarPlay support (in addition to the Android Auto), built-in navigation, lossless FLAC audio file support via flash drive, plus plenty of expandability via various ports and inputs.

Thanks to Android Auto’s support of Google Assistant, you can now control basically all aspects of your smart ecosystem from within your car. Let’s say you’re on your way home from work and you want to make sure the heater is on at home, getting it all toasty for you. To do so, simply tell Google Assistant in Android Auto to set your smart thermostat to a certain temperature. Naturally, you’ll need some type of hub, such as a Google Home, as well as the smart thermostat to get that functionality.

If you’re looking to upgrade your vehicle, check these head units out.
