If you watched today’s DL Show, we briefly touched on this exciting news, being the support of custom third-party icon packs on the Galaxy Note 7. Typically, to use custom icon packs, you would need to use a third-party launcher that supported them. On the Note 7, however, themes you download and use on the device will have support for them, bringing more customization options to owners.

According to SamMobile, the newly designed Themes section on the Galaxy Note 7 features three parts – Wallpapers, Themes, Icons. From here, you can customize each individual part of a theme. From our current usage of themes on the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, while the themes are sometimes good looking, the icons are so ugly that we don’t want to use the theme. With the ability to swap the icons out of a theme, it opens the options for customizing much more.

At this time, we don’t know if the Themes section will also be updated for older devices (Galaxy S7, Galaxy Note 5, etc.), but for owners of those devices, we sure do hope so.

Be on the lookout for more “hot” icon packs being highlighted by us.
