To go along with all of the excitement surrounding wireless charging from Samsung this morning with the Galaxy S6, the company announced a new partnership with IKEA, the famous Swedish furniture corporation. With this partnership, IKEA will focus on creating furniture that incorporates wireless charging built-in, allowing owners to simply toss their phone down and charge it.

“Today, consumers are demanding simple and efficient charging methods to make their lives easier and more convenient. IKEA is addressing this by building wireless charging technology directly into its home furnishings, effectively turning bedside tables, lamps and desks into charging spots,” Samsung stated in the press release.

As stated above, compatible furniture will be bedside tablets, lamps, and desks. However, no word on coffee tables quite yet. As common sense dictates, the furniture will need to be near a wall outlet to draw power from. However, IKEA states, “Through research and home visits, we know that people hate cable mess. They worry about not finding the charger and running out of power. Our new innovative solutions, which integrate wireless charging into home furnishings, will make life at home simpler.”

Samsung states the new lineup of furniture will be available in North America and Europe starting in April of this year.

Pretty legit, yeah?
