Over the weekend, LG announced their Jelly Bean update schedule for a select few devices. As you can imagine, they are only willing to share update details for their flagship phones, a group that includes the Optimus G, Optimus LTE2, Optimus Vu, and Optimus Vu 2 (yes, they made a new one). (more…)
I’m about to jump on a plane to leave beautiful San Diego, but before that happens, I wanted to toss up this quick video tour of the LG Optimus G on both Sprint and AT&T. LG handed over review units of each device last night, giving me all of a couple of hours to try to dive into them. Full reviews will come later, but the video below should give you a good feel what we’re working with here, along with some first impressions. To put it simply, this phone is insanely fast. (more…)
Along with today’s announcement of the Galaxy Tab 2, Sprint also announced two additional devices that customers will be able to purchase this Fall. The LG Optimus G and LG Mach both run on Sprint’s 4G LTE network and feature some pretty decent specs, the Optimus G’s which we are already quite familiar with. It houses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 Pro chip, a massive 13MP camera, and features a 4.7-inch WXGA True HD IPS Plus display. (more…)
According to CNET, they claim to have all but confirmed Google and LG’s new Nexus device. Assured to be based on LG’s Optimus G, the device is set to be unveiled at the end of October and will more than likely feature the specs we wrote about earlier today – Snapdragon S4 Pro, 2GB of RAM, True HD IPS display, 8MP camera, and the two 8GB and 16GB storage configurations. Of course, the new version of Android, 4.2 will also make its debut.
As for an official name, it’s said that Google and LG are working closely to finalize a name. We here have been referring to it as the Optimus Nexus, but I think the Nexus G would be kind of neat.
End of October – does that work for you? And how about name ideas?
Ready to learn all about the next Nexus? According to our pal Taylor from Android and Me, the next in the program will indeed be made by LG and will be dubbed the Optimus G Nexus. For a couple of weeks now, rumors surrounding the next Nexus included LG, but Taylor claims to have essentially confirmed it with a handful of sources. We know him personally and tend to take him for his word, especially in Nexus talks.
As you all know, the Optimus G is already a favorite of ours because of its more-than-impressive set of specs which include a quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 2GB RAM, 13MP (8MP in some cases) camera, a brilliant 4.7″ IPS+ HD display, and a slim body. The skinned version will arrive on AT&T and Sprint at some point in the near future, but according to today’s rumors, the Nexus version could arrive in November. (more…)
The LG Optimus G will arrive on AT&T and Sprint…at some point. According to LG, these two carriers will be among the first to offer it, we just don’t know when that will be. We aren’t even being told “coming weeks” or “soon” or “November” – it’s basically a mystery. I would assume it will arrive before the holidays or this is the most pre-mature press release in history. Either way, Verizon customers should be saddened, as this phone is a true beast. (more…)
LG held a brief Optimus G event today in New York and our buddy Kover was able to stop by to get some hands-on time with it. In the 6-minute video below, one of the LG reps on hand takes us through some of the fancy new features that LG is hoping will help sell this device, similarly to how Samsung pushed sharing instead of specs with the Galaxy S3. I can’t help but admit that I’m impressed by what LG has done here, even if the look of the skin is a little too cheesy for my liking. But hey, that can be hidden for the most part with a third party launcher. (more…)
That name has a good ring to it. LG Optimus Nexus. According to the Associated Press, LG’s newest device the Optimus G, will be hitting the States this November. So far it is only rumored to come to both AT&T and Sprint, but with no word yet for Verizon. The newest rumor to pop up from Android and Me backs up a previous rumor suggesting that LG may also be working on one of the new Nexus devices and could be titled the Optimus Nexus. As of now there’s no evidence to support the claim, but with LG putting out specs such as the ones in this newest device, it might be nice to see LG give a Nexus device a shot. (more…)
