XOOM 3G Available for $199 Today From DailySteals

by: | posted 08.22.12 | Deals, News

Another week, another deal on the Motorola XOOM. This time though, it’s the 3G version that you can connect to Verizon’s network, should you need to. It’s not the 4G LTE enabled version, and probably never will be since those upgrades ended months ago. But no matter what, $199 for a 32GB dual-core tablet is still a pretty good deal. While I would recommend that you skip these every single day of the week and buy a Nexus 7, some of you may prefer the larger 10″ screen (and in this cases 10x heavier) size.

The device itself has been “factory recertified.”

Jelly Bean Build JRO03H Released for Rooted Verizon Motorola XOOM 4G LTE Owners

by: | posted 08.07.12 | News, Root, XOOM

The owner of a developer edition of Verizon’s Motorola XOOM 4G LTE has been pushed the official Jelly Bean update and has decided to make it available for all. The large file is flashed through ClockworkMod Recovery so having a rooted XOOM is a must. The zip is a nandroid backup, so essentially this is exactly what happened when the GSM Galaxy Nexus was pushed Jelly Bean, which was then ported to every other device in existence.

Jelly Bean for Verizon’s XOOM 4G LTE Shows Up for at Least One Lucky Customer

by: | posted 08.06.12 | News

When Motorola announced that the WiFi-only version of the Motorola XOOM was receiving Jelly Bean (Android 4.1.1), we sort of assumed that it would be a while before the 4G LTE version were to see it. After all, it has only been on Ice Cream Sandwich since late June, and knowing that Verizon tends to take their time when readying/approving updates for devices, we figured it could be a couple of months.

According to one of our readers though, his 4G LTE XOOM received Jelly Bean over the weekend. The build number is the newest, JRO03H, and you can see from the baseband and his notification tray that this is indeed the Verizon variant. In the screenshots below, he also has Google Now pulled up, an Android 4.1 feature, showing off his local weather.

We aren’t sure if this means that Verizon is ready to give this update the green light or if this lucky reader of ours simply got in on a test push that wasn’t supposed to be made public. Either way, this is a good sign for the few of us rockin’ a carrier-branded XOOM.

Motorola XOOM Speaker Dock on Woot for Just $20

If you still don’t own an official speaker dock from Motorola for your XOOM tablet, then this is the time to do it. For just $20, you can pick up the black classy dock for your 10.1″ slate that runs the almighty Jelly Bean (if you own the WiFi version). We can’t see it becoming much cheaper than this until the day they start just giving them away, so if you’ve been looking, here you go.

Buy.

Jelly Bean Update Rolling Out to All Motorola XOOM WiFi Owners

by: | posted 07.26.12 | News

According to reader emails and tweets we are receiving, it looks like Motorola is beginning to push out Jelly Bean to all XOOM WiFi owners, not just soak test members. So, XOOM owners, go see if you can update your tablet to Android 4.1.1 and let us know. Good luck!

Jelly Bean Update Rolling Out to Motorola XOOM WiFi Soak Testers

by: | posted 07.25.12 | News

And here it comes, the soak test of Jelly Bean (Android 4.1.1) for the Motorola XOOM WiFi. Assuming all goes well during this test, the update should be pushed to the general public within a week or so. If you can’t wait that long, you can grab the file from Google, today. Instructions for updating through a USB host cable can be found here.

XOOM WiFi Receiving Jelly Bean Android 4.1.1 Build JRO03H, Here is the Changelog (Updated)

by: | posted 07.24.12 | News

From what we understand, the XOOM WiFi Jelly Bean update hasn’t started rolling out just yet, but once it does, it should be Android 4.1.1 build JRO03H. That is a slightly newer version of JB than even the Nexus 7 has, even though it was updated to JRO03D a little over a week ago. Other than numbers though, this newer build probably won’t contain anything that we haven’t already seen. The biggest difference here is that it is the first 10″ tablet to receive Jelly Bean. We finally get to see the full tablet experience of Android 4.1, rather than the portrait style that the Nexus 7 has.

Members of Motorola’s Feedback Network will receive the update first. Once they have had it for a few days and no one is hurt in the process, it should be made available to the public.

Update:  There are reports floating around the internet that the update has been delayed. Actually, it was delayed some time last night and still hasn’t started. As soon as it does, we’ll be sure to let you know.

Soak Test for Motorola XOOM WiFi Update Starts Today, Still Assuming It’s Jelly Bean

by: | posted 07.23.12 | News

Remember that soak test for the Motorola XOOM WiFi that we told you was on the way? It’s pushing to devices this evening and is more than likely Jelly Bean (Android 4.1). Assuming the test goes off without a hitch, it shouldn’t be long before it rolls out to everyone with this WiFi version of the world’s first Honeycomb tablet.
