flixster android

Flixster, one of the most popular movie-related apps on the planet thanks to its connection with Rotten Tomatoes, received a solid update this evening that makes the app capable of streaming to Chromecast. Now, you can watch trailers or your UltraViolet movie collection through Flixster and on your TV with the tap of a button. The update also brought along the ability for HTC phone users to download movies, SD card download support for KitKat devices, and fixed a few playback issues.

What’s New

  • Chromecast support for US users
  • Movie download support for HTC phone users
  • SD card download support for KitKat devices
  • Fixed movie playback issue for UK users on HTC and Sony devices

So, every single preview I try to watch on Chromecast stops at around 2min 15Seconds and shows the buffer circle.
    Every Single One.

Seems they might have some work to do.

Flixster itself isnt bad for showtimes..but that Ultraviolet deal is utter crap. I would easily prefer to get all my digital downloads via iTunes…least that way I can have the file and watch it on any device I want. This gives you a stupid limit on how many times you can download it (since the download ONLY works within the flixster app), and even if you delete it from one device, it still counts against that limit. I get the whole piracy thing, but if I have a digital download of a movie…I want to watch it whenever and wherever I want, UV needs to die!

This is pretty cool – the VUDU experience on phones is downright awful, so good that there’s another option to stream UltraViolet movies to my Chromecast.

Flixster is a disaster. You get a couple downloads then it disappears forever and then you can only stream the movie. Fantastic if you are on an airplane, car, etc… My hatred for flixster is beyond reproach.

I just use it to check theatre showtimes

Does Flixter still have the god-awful root check?

    • jonzey231

      I think so.

I never knew it had one. I’ve been using it forever with root with no issues. But I only use it to check movie showings/times at theaters.

I was wondering that too, I switched to VuDu for my Ultraviolet collection because all of my Android devices are rooted.

Can’t help but see this popcorn image as a commentary on the long-awaited M8 review… ;)
