Google Search Also Now Syncs Notifications Between iOS and Android, Shows Simpler Mobile Results

google search1

Even after a new Google Search update for Android and the introduction of hashtags to searches came across the wire yesterday, Google has decided to continue improving their bread-and-butter product again today. For starters, the iOS Google Search app has been updated to include the clever “OK, Google” voice activation command. But more importantly, your Google Now notifications for things like Reminders, now sync between Android and iOS. So if you wanted to use your Android tablet to remind yourself to pick-up a 6-pack of Jubelale later in the day, you could in theory take an iPhone with you later on and still receive the reminder.

Also, Google is continuing its overhaul of mobile search results. You should see a look that is “cleaner and simpler, optimized for touch, with results clustered on cards so you can focus on the answers.”

Package Tracking Notifications seem to be absent.

It’s weird you can’t create reminders on the iOS application though

Really respect google for still building services for ios. I dont get it, but I love it.

search monetization is agnostic. money is all green.

Because unlike Apple, google is the “bigger man” and allows its services on multiple platforms. Because the average joe might use an iphone but use google services.

Because Google makes more money on iOS than it does on Android.

Why do iOS Google apps always look better than their Android counterparts? Shame, really.

    • Pedro

Because of the extra row of icons.

    • NexusMan

      That looks better?

After further looking at the photo I noticed the time says 4:20 =p. Guess it’s 4:20 & Jubelale time.

You know what I would like for google now? For it to save the search result like Chrome does (so, if I have to answer a call, go into another app etc, I can go BACK to what it came up with)…currently can’t seem to do it, so I resort to using chrome for my voice searches instead.

Now not only will iPhone users think there phone is waterproof because of iOS 7, now with this update to Google Search they’ll think they now run some hybrid of Android and IOS7 since it will sync across OS. “They’ll be saying now I have a waterproof Android Phone”

    • Chris

Most people are not that stupid. most don’t know what “android” or “iOS” is. And given the fake ad was removed and the only ones who fell for it who took to twitter to vent were kids bellow the age of 14, i think its safe to say most people know that a phone isn’t water proff.

When you say it added “OK Google,” do you mean that it is always listening like Moto X? Or that when I open Google Search and press the microphone button, I can say “OK Google” prior to what I normally would have said?

    • Pratik Holla

No, it is not the same as the moto x. You have to open the app to say “google” to enable search. But, android police found that google is working on a way to say “google” without backing out to the main page. So it would be more conversational.

Seems a bit early for Jubelale…

    • Dan

      Never.
