it feels like this android app store is making my downloads way much slower then the older verizon and its not my internet i have 50 down and up

  • Malcolm James II

Has anyone noticed that delta updates or no longer in the new play store? So now when an app updates it downloads the entire app, instead just of the changes like it used to.

  • I can’t believe nobody get that joke. In Brazil, the iPhone is an Android phone. http://www.droid-life.com/2013/02/13/apple-loses-iphone-trademark-in-brazil-android-phone-keeps-its-title/

  • BEAST!
    That is all.

My home page is broken :(. Nothing shows up but the sections. Can someone help?
Ps: I don’t have music or magazines because I’m from Brazil.

    • I’m from Brazil too and I’m having the same problem. Weird…

  • altheakeel

@Loise, you create $27h…good for you! I compose to $85h engaging from home. My story is that I quit engaging at shoprite to figure on-line and with to a small degree effort I simply herald around $45h to $85h…heres an honest example of what i am doing, http://www.hdcash1.com

  • Linda Mitchell

Droid Life is the best! Thanks for the apk.

  • N8shon

    Very nice, thanks!

  • Qadi

Can someone test if market enabler/unlocker works, because it stopped working lately…

  • For some reason all I’m getting is the app categories and then nothing else (blank) Nexus 4 4.2.2 CM 10.1

  • Mike Bye

@koveleski:disqus I suppose that might happen when you install Android apps on an Iphone. The fact this site is called Droid Life should have been a clue.

    • The fact he mentions he lives in Brazil should have been a clue for you too.

  • BrianCherry

Is their a certain way to install this because when the installation process comes up, I cant press “Next”? Using AOKP Build 6 Nexus 4

  • I can download it, but when I go to install it, I can not press the “Install” button. Really odd, cancel works just fine. I am on CM10.1 nightly for Toro. Any suggestions?

    • BrianCherry

Im getting the same thing on my Nexus 4

    • John Burke

Same on my N4 but worked on my OG Kindle Fire and my other Android devices

    • PSU_DI

you probably have an app preventing it. It’s usually an app that has an overlay of some sort. I’ve had this issue with both better battery stats & smart stay EX. Someone else on here mentioned an app called glovebox that also has this effect. Once you figure out which app it is, just Force Close the app and then do the install. After that you can relaunch the app again.

      • That fixed it, thank you. Freaking Glovebox…

        • John Burke

Same for me … I wonder why though, hmmm.
Reported it to the Dev for investigation.

        • Really….??? I had to issue refund to couple of my app buyers ‘coz “pressing Install doesn’t do anything” issue mails. 🙁 Damn you, glovebox.

          • I simply slid Glovebox to “off”, installed the new play store, and turned Glovebox to “on”. Was simple although confusing solution.

    • shikamaru

how did u download it em jus gettin round and round back to wher i am :@

  • Stevedub40

Don’t you mean make your iphone totally awesome? 😛

  • It works great on Google TV as well. I made a quick video of it here: http://youtu.be/1LO3LF99RyE

  • Typo. Sorry. Says “invalid or deleted file”

  • Link won’t work for me. Days invalid or deleted file. Has it been taken down and if so can someone post a new apk link? Thanks

  • None

Will it update automatically for future updates or do i have to do it manually?

  • One simple and dumb question, If I install this APK, the play store app will continue updating by itself on any future update that google releases for the store? Or I’ll have to look for the new version each time there’s an update?

  • DJyoSNOW

& still no purchased section…. There is an app for that ;/

  • I gotta admit that from the initial pictures…I wasn’t too impressed. But upon actual use this is a great update!

  • coolsilver

Hope it fixes the tablet update glitches with constantly trying to load the app page instead of installed list.

  • shelderman

It’s just ok. don’t like the green. Also they made the install/update buttons small again. Why?

  • Love it, the new larger icons look great and the scrolling is very smooth, I also love that you can go into the all tab under my apps and now multi-select the old apps that you want to clear out instead of hitting the little x one by one forever. Good looking out Kellex

    • Drummer62

I cannot see how to “multi select” apps in the my apps section for removal, I still see the small “x” in the right side corner. If I click or long hold on them they just open that app info page. Cannot see how to multi-select apps? Can you explain how please?

      • Drummer62

Nevermind I figured it out. It only works on the ones that have the small x in the list. The ones that are currently not installed on the device. I get it now. Long click on the ones with the x to remove more than one at a time. Sorry!

    • It is not a new feature. It has been there ever since play store allowed deleted unwanted app listing from ‘all apps’ page.

  • I must say this is a huge improvment over the last version. Also thanks DL and Brendan!

  • Austin Warren
  • Lantz89

    Worked For Me Very Clean

  • it works but only half screen, under categories it is all blank. and the menu button to go to settings and my apps still old colour and looks crap, i uninstalled update and wait for original one

    • rosssimpson

      Mine did this too

      • davesousa

It is widely though that this is a problem with people outside of the US. I currently have this issue as well.

        • rosssimpson

Could be! Good point, I’m in the UK 🙂

  • mgamerz

That actionbar looks awful, it looks bad on dark system themes.

    • flosserelli

It was just released. Modders need time to invert it.

  • Ethan Hansen

It won’t let me press install…anyone else experienced this problem?

    • PSU_DI

you probably have an app preventing it. I’ve had the issue with better battery stats when you have the battery bar turned on, and I’ve also had the issue when using smart stay ex

    • provocal

      Yes. HTC DNA.

    • ya i’m having the same problem as well, i’m on a rooted gnexus cm10.1 not sure if thats one of the problems

    • mplacido9

Its because you have another app running preventing you from clicking install button. Usually happens with apps that have a transparent overlay. I had the same problem. It was glovebox that was stopping me from pressing install. To fix go to settings>apps>running and then stop any apps that use an overlay like glovebox. Then try install again.

      • Ethan Hansen

Thanks so much! It was Glovebox that was stopping it from installing.

      • provocal

        Ditto. Glovebox. Thanks!

  • Patrick Chapman

This is why Droid-Life is, without a doubt, the best Android site out there.

    • Clay S.

droid life and android police. you literally need nothing else (even though i still have a bunch of others in my google reader). also, BGR needs to get off apple’s dick. i remember when it was a mostly blackberry blog. they sold out.

      • Pure laziness is the reason I still have other sites on my – reader- err… I mean feedly subscription. those other sites are the reason I see duplicates of the same reports, Droid-Life is always first

      • dylan84

Yup. DL and AP are the only two worth reading.

        • i have some others too in my subscription, mainly for ‘giveaways’. But damn, nothing ever comes my way. 🙁

  • Looks great on my Moto Xoom tablet. Thanks

  • kirk ngo

not liking the gray top bar but everything else is alright.

    • RepublicansAreSoStupid

You are going to hate KLP then. The play store is always a hint at what the next version of Android will offer.

  • npompei

Wow I love it. SO much more organized and super clean. Thanks guys!

  • epps720

Don’t get it, why is everyone so excited for a new Play Store? It’s the Play Store, as long as I can search for and find apps I’m fine. It really isn’t that big of a deal

    • Col_Angus

      That’s where you’re wrong… this changes EVERYTHING.

      • epps720

How so, how often do you honestly randomly search for an app. I either know exactly what I’m looking for or click on a link from DL to an app they are promoting. Don’t get me wrong I’m all about updating and enhancing the Play store whenever possible but people are just getting a little too excited here.

  • Dan

    Well done and thank you!

  • Mikesphoneandtab

This is so nice to look at. I am going to be spending way to much time in the Play Store than I need to.

  • Badass- Cheers!

  • looks beautiful. What makes me really excited about this is I think of it as signs to come. I expect the next version of Android will have much of the same design language across the board. I look forward to a cleaner, brighter and more welcoming version of Android if this is what we’re in for.

  • mohamad

If there’s new Google play update, so why my device didn’t notify me about the update!!!

  • Babe los APK is next

  • Is it just me, or does the interface feel a little snappier?

    • That’s what she said…?

  • Artune

This is great! Thank you, all I need now in my life is this bable….shoot i’ll take bbm if blackberry would make it cross platform

  • Daniel Dlugos

Has anyone had this automatically push out to their phone? If so, any way to speed up the process? I’m always slightly apprehensive about downloading random APK’s.

    • Alex S

      same :/

    • I wouldn’t feel too bad about pulling this one. It’s clean and working.

    • jski

Google Play (@GooglePlay) tweeted at 8:16 AM on Tue, Apr 09, 2013:
Today, we’re rolling out a redesigned Google Play store on Android devices that’s simple, clean and fast: http://t.co/rBFge6m0E0 #googleplay

    • jonny6pak

I don’t think there’s any way to force the update, but you should be safe to install this. You can uninstall the update. Since the store is a system app, this doesn’t fully replace the app. When you go into app settings, you can remove the update and all is back to the old and familiar.

  • joejoe5709

Sweeeeet. Purdy fancy store you got there Google! Functionally it doesn’t look much different, but the new UI is fantastic.

  • Thanks for the update….how nice is this!!!

  • rosssimpson

I don’t get anything below the 6 sections at the top 🙁 It just says “categories” and then it’s blank after that :'(

  • All we need now, is a update to the Google play music app

    • And babel!

      • and android!

        • And Youtube

          • BinaryBandit

            and my axe!.. wait..

          • 4n1m4L

            And the Q.

          • E A butler

A little energon and a lot of luck!

          • I did not expect to see LoTR in this thread. Have a cookie for being a winner.

    • andrew galvin

  • MikeSaver

Am I the only one who’s appropriately excited for this? Which is to say, kind of?

    • I’m like: HOLY meh…!

  • Bill Stebbins

    I love you guys!

  • EvanTheGamer

  • always makes me smile when i load up DL and a download is at the top!

  • monkey082506

    I like new stuff!

  • andrew galvin

looks nice.. but why was i so excited for this?

    • Steve Benson

Because it means I/O is right around the corner. Prepare to have mind blown.

        Damn you autocorrect….? lol, thanks.

      • deez

    • EvanTheGamer

If THIS caused THAT you may have a bigger problem.

  • Home page isn’t loading properly?

    • If you’re having problems with it loading, go into your app management, and clear cache and data… it will should right up after that.

      • That didn’t do it either, seems it’s the fact Google as usual isn’t releasing this right away in UK and the homepage isn’t ready for the UK hence why others probably in US aren’t having this issue.

        • You’re probably right, stupid international rollouts not being at the same times. I’m in the US and that fix worked for me.

        • S2556

Same is happening to me on a Canadian device so that is likely the case.

      • Hmm…Mine still isn’t working properly…It shows the different divisions of the app store such as, “Apps”, “Movies”, etc. And then “Categories below that, then nothing.

    • Mine isn’t either.. :-/

Neither is mine 🙁 running Nexus 4 4.2.2
      What are you running?

      • It’s because of your location, don’t worry nothing wrong with Google Play. Stuff will begin to appear once Google officially starts rolling out the new Google Play in your country.

        • BETTYLAROO

Cheers Sebastian, it’s about time updates rolled out at the same time. Android is already too fragmented.

  • Love you Kover.
