Gameloft to Introduce In-game Voice Chatting to Games Played Over Verizon’s 4G LTE Network

Back at CES, Gameloft was able to show off a new feature that both serious and casual gamers will surely enjoy, in-game voice chatting. During gameplay over Verizon’s 4G LTE network, some of Gameloft’s game portofilio will enable users to trash-talk chat with up to 3 opponents. While the first game to allow for this new feature is Asphalt 6, you will likely see this come to a variety of games in the near future. Modern Combat 3 with team chat, anyone?

Gameloft’s VP of publishing had this to say:

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Verizon to illustrate the potential of in-game voice chat and multiplayer over the 4G LTE network,” said Baudouin Corman, vice president of Publishing for the Americas at Gameloft.  “Gameloft seeks to provide gamers with a complete mobile gaming experience and feels that these features are at the forefront of the platform’s future.”

Excited to have in-game voice chatting? How many serious mobile gamers do we have?

Again about the in game voice chat. What about players with android tablets? I personally use an Asus Transformer Pad. And the only network I use is my own mifi device. I would hope that if Gameloft does enable in game voice chat support, that players like myself aren’t singled out

The funniest thing about that commercial is none of them have charging cables plugged in. How long do you think your battery’s gonna last on that?

  • Knowing Gameloft we will probably all have to buy the game again for a special “play multiplayer over 4G LTE edition.”

Hello? It’s a phone damn it!

  • magy1

getting their games… my co-worker’s half-sister makes $68 hourly on the laptop. She has been without a job for 8 months but last month her paycheck was $7760 just working on the laptop for a few hours. Read more on this site… MakeCash2.com

    • Chris

wow really? How can I get more information about this.. can I provide you with my SSN and bank account details so that we can expedite getting me started on this wonderful wonderful paying job?

  • Billybob

Its a neat concept….I’m not gonna trash talk this cause to be honest….if we all want to see android grow? We have to be happy when new ideas come around….and I think the graphics used to look n64 style but come on dude….nothing like mc3 was on n64……star fox anyone……I dont think so

How about they make there games compatable with the Tegra processors, I would love to play the gameloft games I have puchased on my Prime.

“Excited to have in-game voice chatting?”

Nope. Adults playing games and chatting like it is real is laughably pathetic. I couldn’t care less about this.. or any game related story for that matter.

    • Curtis Martin

Then why waste time reading and commenting on an article about something you have no interest in?

      • FortitudineVincimus

Easy… because I take joy in making fun of pathetic adult game players that geek out over this crap like it matters in life and is worthy of the ridiculous time and cost they throw at it. And this is my only outlet to do so as none of my friends get involved in this pathetic time waster.. so I need to come here as I can’t make fun of them.

        • And the tool award goes to……thanks for making it is “almighty one”

        • Everyone has his/her own preferred method of entertainment.  When one’s entertainment causes no harm or inconvenience to you, why should they be criticized for it?  Rather what this makes me think is that your own life is so pathetically boring or useless that you need to make yourself feel better by trashing someone who may actually be enjoying himself even though it may be through something that will, in the end, amount to nothing more than an hour or so of entertainment.

  • Curtis Martin

This would be cool if 4G + playing a graphically intensive game didn’t destroy your battery life. If the next generation of smartphones focused only on better battery life, I would be a happy man.

    • When I have a strong 4G signal on my bionic, my battery life is considerably longer than when I’m using 3G.  If the signal degrades, however, the battery life is considerably shorter.

and with a 2 gig data cap? u can play for an hour!

    • Actually games use a relatively small amount of data.

Modern Warfare 3 only uses ~20-35mb of data per hour.
You could theoretically play (assuming 30mb per hour) approximately 66 hours per month.

      • Anonymous

Huh. I can play between 720 and 744 hours a month, if I felt like it. Life’s great when you aren’t hit by throttling caps on T-Mobile.

  • i feel like gameloft should focus on getting their games to more devices rather than introduce new features…most of their games aren’t available for my Prime or Bionic

  • Anthony Armando

i am super addicted to order & chaos. it would be great to be able to use voice chat in team or guild simply because typing and playing can have bad results in that game. im a healer class and have killed a few tanks who ran off while i was typing.

  • Christopher Riner

hah. some pretty cheesy dialogue there

  • Christopher Riner

yeah, but with quad cores coming out (probaly better on tablets– that flat screen does present a less superior ability as far as controls go– a bigger screen would give you more space for control options) games are getting sicker and sicker.  I’m hoping that android can keep getting closer and closer to a console gaming experience.  This is simply the next step.  Hell, maybe they’ll be a teamspeak app soon.

  • DanSke

Pass. While mobile gaming is convenient, I don’t find it at all entertaining. Simply put the graphics remind me of an N64’s and the controls are less than adequate. I’ll stick to PC/XBox/PS3 for my thrills.

have to agree. also, while i have purchased a couple on sale titles, we all know gameloft just rips them off. Generally the content isnt very in depth either when they are translated to to mobile.

    No thanks.
