DROID Incredible 2 Update to Build 4.08.605.3 Rolling Out Now

The DROID Incredible 2 has another minor update available for it as of, well, right now.  The update is 32MB and improves email synchronization along with a couple of other data-related bugs. It’s nothing major, but you should jump into Settings>Software update now to pull it.  Always good to be up-to-date.

And since I know that some of you will ask, I still have not received word as to when the Thunderbolt will receive Gingerbread.  HTC told us we would see it by the end of September, so that gives them another couple of long drawn out weeks.

Changelog after the break.

More info.

Update:  The update takes the phone to Android 2.3.4, but there is no Google Talk with Video for some reason.

Cheers @Ghub1 and @thesailingboss!

HTC said they were working on a fix for the missing alarm, world clock, timer issue. Has anyone heard of 1; an alternate fix without a hard reset, 2; the release date of the actual fix from HTC (or Verizon). My INC2 is not rooted and updated to 2.3.4. this is the last thread I read on the HTC site as of 9/30, http://community.htc.com/na/htc-forums/f/124/t/12556.aspx?PageIndex=7 I would appreciate any information.

If I run the new update will I loose root? and if I do want to update, do I need to unroot it first

    Dear HTC,
Please let the Dinc3 have HDMI out.

  • skinja99

If this phone had HDMI out, it would be the perfect phone. I love my Dinc2.

But my dad can stream Netflix to a monitor right off his Charge with HDMI out.

CM7 is on 2.3.5 and has gtalk with video. Jus sayin’.

  • I agree, best phone on VZW.  Though, the stock ROM has some funky issues.  Like apps disappearing or things force closing.

Once I put a new ROM on my phone whooooaaaaa!!

now that the inc2 has 2.3.4, why won’t gtalk update?  Does anyone know how to update gtalk if you are NOT rooted?

  • Boltcc

    Still no alarm clock fix???????

    • Jeff

try out gentle alarm. it’s so much better than stock alarm app.

I love my inc 2, but I’m rooted and declined the last two updates.  Do any of you have a suggestion on a solid custom ROM.  I have OMFGB sitting on my SD ready to be flashed, but Sense just looks so nice.  I know the dev of OMFGB doesn’t have an inc 2 to test on so I’m a lil hesitant to use it.
I could really use some help deciding what to run.

    • I would go with CM7 it always goes down smooth.

    • I have an INC 2 and running OMGB. I have run OMFGB on it as well and it works flawlessly. CM7 just has too much stuff added to it. I like OMGB because its a true stock ROM as google intended it to be. Battery life rocks!

The Incredible HD Rom is running really smoothly right now and it’s running Sense 3.5, not the Sense that was on the Bliss. There are a few bugs, but it runs really stable and smooth.

Put CM7 on my Incredible 2. Couldn’t be happier with it.

    • Wildtouch

I’m on CM7 as well.   I would consider applying this update, but, from what I understand it relocks the bootload and there is not a way to undo that at this time.

nexus for me, love that sammy screen.
now please release it already so i can get rid of my POS thunderbolt!

      • Anonymous

What is wrong with your Thunderbolt? Mine is flawless…

Or is a POS simply cause it doesn’t have official Gingerbread yet?

        • Anonymous

miserable battery, weight, bulk, 4g reliability, durability. i’m on my 5th refurb, each replacement was another unnecessary issue (one’s screen lost touch in the corner, one’s phone stopped charging past 70%, one’s speaker blew out, etc).
my friend with a charge doesnt have any of these problems. i was considering switching to it, but decided to stick it out for the nexus.

and who needs official GB when we have team BAMF? on the software front, everything is great.

          • Anonymous

Wow… Ok, at least you have a reason to be upset.

However having a friend with a Charge doesn’t mean there are not some of those that have issues also. Every phone will have some duds….  I have the Bolt and have had no issues whatsoever. I also have a friend with one and she has no issues. Like you mentioned I have them both loaded with Bamf.

If you are going to get a new phone I would wait for some of the new options coming soon.

            Good luck

My Thunderbolt is an awesome phone. I am not judging the phone by a software release. Besides I’ve been running Gingerbread for a few months now.

However I agree that I look forward to the Vigor and will probably purchase one!

Sad thing is that as soon as folks get their brand new Vigor they will begin complaining that it isn’t getting an upgrade fast enough.

  • Dan

For all intents and purposes I think the Droid Incredible 2 is one of the best android phones verizon has to offer.

    • Anonymous

Yes I have the Inc2 and I agree with you. It was even great stock I kept it unrooted for a month and it ran great. I was tempted by mods, etc so I rooted. But great either way.

    • rikster

yeah one of my coworkers has it and it very nice, i still have the o.g. droid inc and its still good, rooted running skyraider4.3 and cyanogenmod7 on some days, but if the inc2 was lte it woould be sweeter. I’m holding for something good hopefully HTC drops next…….and hopefully find out tomorrow=)
