Another New HTC Thunderbolt RUU (1.07.605.3) is Available

I think we’re up to 3 leaked RUUs for the HTC Thunderbolt now, aren’t we?  From site 911HTC, we have version 1.07.605.3 for those of you in the RUU cracking business to play with.  Hopefully this means we are just preparing for that last week of February launch.

    OK so another coment from a rookie over here. I still have a flip phone!!!! I have been waiting for a long time for the iphone to come to verizon but have recently seen the light that it is all a bunch of hype and the phone itself isn’t anything great. Anyway….. my question is what advantages/disadvantages are there to rooting your phone. I know you can overclock your processor and install custom roms. I also know that you can seriously mess up your phone if you don’t know what you are doing (ie – me!). Can somebody give me the basic facts on what the advantages and disadvantages are so if this damn phone ever comes out I will know if I want to root it?

    Ok…. another

    RUU = ROM Update Utility

    Its HTC’s way of updating a phone manually without an OTA instead you download the RUU to your PC and the software installs it over USB. All HTC phones even back to Windows Mobile use the same method of updates.
    HTC has 2 methods, OTA (over the air) and RUU.

    and thanks to these leaks with the RUU, we can see exactly what will be in the ROM for the phone and even port it to other devices like we did with the Desire HD/Z roms to get the new Sense on Incredible and EVO

    Ok, so for someone who was talked into (thankfully) waiting for the Tbolt, instead of buying the Droid X (not that I don’t like the X I bought my mother-in-law for Christmas this past season) and am a bit of a ‘techno-peasent’ when it comes to the Anroid phones (learning a lot on this site!), could some one please explain to me what the ‘RUU’ is? And do I need to have this when I get the Tbolt? What can I learn about the phone from the RUU?
    THanks for schooling me a bit… Go Droid-Life, woooohoooo!

      ok? a lil over excited…..anywways…..its just a leak of the rom others can port to other phones like the evo because their so similar….when you get the thunderbolt this is nothing to you because your software is already installed.

        Actually these RUU’s are VERY important. An RUU is what you would run if you were to brick your phone after rooting. These are invaluable to the people who mess around in non-userspace and mess things up. The RUU, in most cases, will save you from having to warranty claim or buy a new phone. They are hardly “nothing”
