More DROID 2 Training Guide Materials

We thought you had all had enough Froyo info for the Droid 2, but apparently we were wrong.  We’ve been holding on to these puppies for a few days now and after seeing the black and white version land on Engadget, why not share the rest with you?

Here is the rest of the training guide for for the D2 which shows employees how to sell its top 5 features, Android 2.2, and compare it to top phones on other carriers…

And let me just reconfirm that August 12th is definitely the date we are looking at for the D2.

Anything else you want to see from this phone?

Ok, so I just tricked Verizon into making all my lines eligible to upgrade and cant decied which phone I want!! I did have the X, but I took it back because I used a old lines upgrade.. now I havew to wait until the 19th of Aug. in the mean time Im thinking about the INC but it looks so small now and im afraid im not gonna like it much.

So my question to all you which phone would you go with and more importantly why?

and if you are a old Alltel customer and DID NOT change your plan, all you have to do is call VZW and tell them a rep told you that if you upgraded your plan to VZW you can upgrade all your lines at 2yr pricing ( if you are like me then you'll find away to keep your plan and do it again every 6 months)!!!!

    Last!!! Woot! Woot!
I LOVE everything w/ the DROID name on it…but, I wish motorola made R2-”D2″ a little better. (ex. 2-2.5ghz processor, black w/red accents color phone, left the soft keys in the same order w/ the back button on the left, I hope the bootloader isn't a problem for rooting, front facing camera, High-Def recording, pictues, playback & the front facing camera…these are just a few things I would have wanted for the phone that is “kind-of” replacing the MOTODROID, IMO one of the greatest genus phones ever. I think they should have made lil bro a Huge sterDROIDs taking beast younger brother…I like the D2 but, I personallywish they made it more like my dream instead it seems like MOTOROLA didn't want make D2 a crazy iDont Serial Killer. This is not a D2 bashing post just a wish list I guess.

    • Collin

      Stole your last.

I agree with you. Don't forget an unlocked bootloader though. That one's a must.

      • http://www.facebook.com/cory.britt1 Cory Britt

I put “a boot loader that doesn't cause problems” unlocked boot loader is basically what I meant by that

  • filly

I hope the D2 (Milestone 2) will release in Germany soon!

  • slackerjoe

Ok, I know this is off topic but after I did the update to FRG22 build, I didn't get the app2sd option. Any ideas why?

  • Sjobs

so to me it looks like they are intentionally sitting on the 2.2 update for the DX until the D2 has had a chance to step out on its own.

  • Timoh

Just placed my Droid X order. Now I get to wait a couple weeks for it to ship. Bitter-sweet.

I'm guessing Moto halted production or shipments on the X until the Droid 2 is released. If people switch their orders from the X to the Droid 2 and sell it out, it will look better for moto and Verizon. Having 2 phones sell out immediately, so close together would be a marketing department wet-dream.

    • Rdcamero

I have suggested this theory as well.I get shot down by a bunch of people every time I do though.

i hope they give the droid 2 out as a replacement for the regular droid =/

This is some good information, handy to know. Thanks Droid-Life!

I hate talking to VZW “Techs”.. I know more than they do and only use them if it's the last resort.. Trying to skool them on their own hardware is fruitless, as they don't want to hear a customer telling them right from wrong.

I went into the store after the first day owning my Droid, as once the battery died, it wouldn't take a charge from either a PC or from the wall. I couldn't get it to charge or turn on. In the store, we swapped batteries. I told the lady helping me to try plugging it into her computer. I was assured there were no USB ports on their computers.. I then told her to plug it into the wall.. Took about 15 minutes of her and the manager messing with it before they decided I was right. When giving me the new phone, she asked if I had a Gmail account to activate the phone..

Another time, I had to call to get a phone swap when my USB port on my Droid stretched and wouldn't hold the cable anymore.. The lady on the phone kept assuring me there would be a $600.00 charge if it was found to be my wrongdoing. I assured her I knew the difference between physical damage by a customer and a manufacturing defect.. We went round and round for about 3 minutes over the issue.

The sad thing is, I'm EXTREMELY polite and a total gentleman. I don't look the part of someone trying to scam the company and am always upfront with any and all problems. I show/explain everything. I never get why the hassle. They are always so reluctant to help.

    • http://www.facebook.com/andrew.lee.moreno Andrew Lee Moreno

Well one thing you have to understand from a VZW Customer Service Rep. is we are not trained to fix, modify, or pretty much do anything to fix any phones. VZW expects us to learn it themselves, so all I can say is. In certain locations, the individual may or may not take the time to learn about their products. Sure they probably would know the basics about it like it is a smartphone, it requires a data package, etc. But if their is something wrong with the phone then all they can do is if they do know, tell you what they think. VZW does care when it comes to phones effecting their network, but if its a manufacture defect. They send it off to the manufacture as defective and never see the phone again.

      • briderx

And I agree. But, if they're going to be called “techs” then they should know what they're spouting. You don't bring your computer into a tech at a store (I used to be a PC Tech) and expect him to just make up a few lines about how your “gigabytes are out of sync” or the “belt needs replaced on your drive”. You expect a professional opinion/solution. Otherwise, they should just be called customer service reps.

And I know a lot of you on here agree that some DO honor their positions and take their positions seriously and research everything they can (especially members of forums like this one). But it should be like that across the board. If I am to take my equipment to a store because of concern of it's operation, I expect a logical solution, not an attitude if they have no clue what's wrong, and are reluctant to help.

        • http://www.facebook.com/andrew.lee.moreno Andrew Lee Moreno

I would expect the same thing if their title is actually Tech expert, of course they should know! But their are many customer service reps that claim to be the tech guy of the store who do not have a certification to prove they are, so I would say it is up to them. They shouldn't say they are if they don't really know anything useful about phones.

          • briderx

            100% agree

        • G1515

Tech or Rep – the bottom line is their rude and arrogant behavior is unwarranted and should be dealt with at a higher level.

    • http://dr.zombine.com Dr. Zombine

There is a pattern within both your experience. There lies the problem. ;)

      • briderx

        And that would be?

    • http://www.myspace.com/abrielband Tim-o-tato

      Sounds like a nightmare lol
I must say that most Reps in SF are pretty on the ball though when it comes to hardware and software related issues.
Last time I was in there we chatted about Droid-Life even. Needless to say I was impressed.
+1 to SF Verizon stores! :-)

      • briderx

        -5 to Tacoma, WA store.

        • http://www.facebook.com/andrew.lee.moreno Andrew Lee Moreno

Is your store direct or indirect, also if your indirect. What company are you apart of?

          • briderx

If you are talking about the verizon store, it's direct. I am just a lowly customer.

        • http://www.myspace.com/abrielband Tim-o-tato

Hey now. I got my godmother up there in Tacoma!! :-P

  • kulz

a lot of the vz techs i've encountered are totally clueless regarding android OS…if they don't have an android phone, they're worthless!

most of them carry bb's btw ;p

  • Timmah

    Nice post. ;D

“Anything else you want to see from this phone?”
    R2Droid2 info :-P

  • WhereIsTony

Hopefully it wont be long for the Droid Incredible

  • tbaybe

someone has to explain to the vz techs what “froyo” is, unless you say 2.2 they are cluless :)

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=748788660 Robbie Harvey

MOST VZ techs are clueless. I am in sales and have to tell them how to fix the problem with the phone, that I don't have access to on the computer. What takes them 15 mins to fix I can usually tell them how to fix it in about 3 mins
