Video: Android 2.2 Walk-through on Motorola Droid

We finally had a chance last night to sit down and do a quick walk-through of Android 2.2 and attempt to give you some sort of an idea of what you can expect from the official release. While the Froyo build which was released over the weekend is technically just a ROM, it’s a pretty polished ROM based off of an official Droid build. Video action below!

Well its was really nice i like smartkeyboard pro it seems to be pretty good. Smart Keyboard Pro, Swype, And Better Keyboard are my top choices. Stock keyboard even with the 2 new rows is still horrible. Thanks for the information on blog. This information made my study easier.

Anyone figure out how to add stuff to the blank spots for the car dock or change them period although I love the new car dock either way.

I noticed the comment “Seems to get faster as you go”. Java JIT compilers compile and optimize bytecode data as it is first loaded. Then the next time the feature/code is executed it will run much faster.

did disqus go down? anyways, if youre using the stock keyboard, press at the bottom, slide to the top off the keyboard, and there will be 2 more rows that pop up. number and symbols

If your going to there website your probably gonna get an error. Down the apk kellex has up and it works.

Anyone find a flashlight app that uses the camera led that actually works with 2.2 lol. I have 2 but the dev has not updated to work with froyo yet. I use this very frequently

Enjoyed the videos for sure Kellex. Agree with the gallery, it just seems buggy. I posted on a prior post but i'm still unable to play .3g2 videos like I could on 2.1. Haven't been able to locate anyone posting anything about it. Kinda bummed. Have a bunch of videos from my old phone that I can no longer view.

Wrong, there is only a theme for Froyo, there is no ROM on ROM Manager for Froyo yet.

The camera app is updated too…
with many convenient buttons to click on the screen itself, instead of pulling out the left-side bar.

on the call log, now you can see the calls shared with same number grouped together.
this is really cool to me since I talk on the phone with my wife many times, and I used to see her name filling my call log.

On part one, you weren't oc'd to 900. You had it on powersaver. It said 250mhz at the top. Just thought I'd let you know.

I run my phone as “ondemand” so when I'm in SetCPU it'll show the low clock speed. It runs at 900Mhz when I need it to.

link is just a screenshot of his site showing froyo board available. I posted the one I made and installed on my froyo phone up above. I just dont like the stock keyboard very much and was wondering when we could get new ones so i just started looking myself.

Ok so now I really want to jump on the root bandwagon before official 2.2 drops so I don't run the risk of being locked out from rooting. I'm not sure which ROM to go with though. I know the obvious answer would be “do it, go Froyo”. Of course that's tempting, but in case I find it too buggy/etc. what is the current “must have” ROM? Last time I looked at this it was some version of bugless beast. Just wondering what you guys think.

It's still root. Look at the How to root 2.1 video on here. Takes you step by step through it. You can't fail.

Anyone else having problems moving apps to sdcard. I know only certain apps can move right now but the ones i move disappear from the app drawer and i cant access them without moving em back to the phone. Im hoping this will get fixed with better roms or the official OTA.

Anyone else experience this?

I noticed that as well, but they appear in my drawer after I restart my launcher. I'm using Launcher Pro, so I just restart it and they're there. Not a dealbreaker for me at this point cause not many apps will move and I'm sure it'll be addressed in the official release and/or the 2.2 ROMs that come out once the source is out. But it's a minor pain.

you didnt cover the new keyboard. when on stock, slide your finger from the bottom of they keyboard to just above it. 2 new rows pop up. symbols and numbers

Why does it say “iPhone” on your phone? Under settings> UA, where you select the input device and you choose Desktop?

This is an option to 'tell' the browser how to render web pages. Site designers can place code in the header of a website to tell a browser how the page should be viewed for different types of devices or specific browsers. Nothing to be alarmed about here.

Help? Went from BB 1.1 to 2.2 but I lost root, can't overclock with any kernel,no wifi,and can't restore any backup or boot into recovery….

You cant place the update on the root of the SD then go into ROM manager and hit “install from SD”???

Actually, I couldnt do anything because I got to work and my computer was on total lock down.
