It might not be HTC’s Ultrapixel, but users of CM 10.1 will be excited to hear that their cameras will be getting an upgrade soon. The team has finished the touches on their own algorithm that allows for phones running CM 10.1 to take 3 photos, one at low exposure, one at normal exposure and one at high exposure, to make an HDR image.
There are a few caveats to using this new mode. Since you are taking 3 pictures, you need to keep your camera as still as possible since this new mode is very sensitive to movement, this means action shots probably won’t be suggested. Most mid to high-end smartphones shouldn’t have a problem rendering these kinds of images, though, especially if your camera has zero shutter lag.
If you are anxious to get this new feature in your ROM check the latest build for your device.

interesting. also…I don’t even see photosphere option on my GS3 running AOKP mr1 build 3.
There are third party camera apps that support HDR, granted I’ve only used them a few times so not sure how they compare.
All it does for me so far, is take 3 pictures and then fc :S.
You aren’t missing much. It works on my SGS3 but the final processed image is always so blurry that it’s not worth the trouble.
Just keep in mind that this feature is only available through CM’s own modified camera and that it does not (at least on my Galaxy Nexus) support both HDR and Photosphere. If you are using the camera/gallery app (gallerygoogle.apk) from the G-apps you flashed with CM then the feature will not be there. The easiest way to get it is to move or delete gallerygoogle.apk from /system/app before updating CM and after you will see CM’s camera/gallery app in it’s place (gallery2.apk).
So we have to choose between HDR or Photosphere? #firstworldproblems 🙁
I’m sticking with Photosphere.

For those of you with a GN, if you flashed Gapps to get picasa/G+ sync back, then you won’t see this in your camera.
Go to system/apps, delete googlegallery.apk, and then flash the ROM again to get the HDR stuff, but you’ll lose sync.
Do you know if they’ve found any way to get sync on Non-nexus devices yet for 10.1??
Woot.
