Back around MWC, we showed you an app called Scalado Remove which was a nifty little app that allowed you to remove unwanted objects from pictures you had just taken. The app was essentially created to be licensed by OEMs, so don’t expect to see it in the Play Store any time soon. It’s creators didn’t stop there though. They still wanted to create a public offering after receiving much praise over Remove and have done that today with an app called Scalado Album.
Album is for the most part, a gallery replacement. It doesn’t have any mind-blowing features to sell to you, other than the fact that it is crazy fast. After experiencing different OEM skins along with stock Android over the years, slow gallery loading, picture flipping, etc. has always been a bit frustrating to me. This app from the Scalado team is like a breath of fresh air with its speed. It loads up swiftly and then allows you to bounce between photos or by pinching and zooming without a stutter.
And along with that speed, they have done some nice things on the location front as well. Album allows you to view the the exact spot that you snapped photos from via map. It’s sort of iOS-esque in that it drops pins on the spots that you took these pictures, but it could give the ultimate traveler in the building a nice visual representation of their lives.

Does the quickpic app have a way to hide or lock some photos?
yes, you can exclude an image of a folder from being seen by that gallery.
Stock Gallery isn’t too shabby, actually. But QuickPic doesn’t display your Google Profile photos by default (they can’t be hidden in the stock Gallery), and it also has a boatload of other features, including random slideshow playback. Oh, and it’s free. I’ll be sticking with it.
I love you guys. Just yesterday I decided to look for a new replacement to the crappy default gingerbread gallery, but I was too lazy to browse around for the best one. And now today, I see this.
Went with quickpic because it’s free and it doesn’t look like scalado does anything that it doesn’t.

The date folders and geotags are cool, but as far as it being fast and smooth, the ICS gallery is already a pleasurable experience.

No gallery app is BETTER than the FREE QuickPic. NO gallery app is greater!
Agreed. The feature that I use the most is “max brightness when viewing an image”. That’s so freaking handy

if that video is indication of it’s real performance, yes it is faster than quickpic.
why not just use QuickPic? best gallery app out there imo and its free.
I too was wondering this. Clearly this app has the neat Location thing going for it (if you care). But if you don’t, is there any reason at all to use this instead of QuickPic?
The same reason we have android in the first place, choices. Some people are willing to pay for a more appealing UI (which is all subjective.)
QuickPic is hands-down the best and, aside from Gmail and the browser, my most frequently used app across all of my Android devices. I feel almost criminal having access to such a fantastic app for free!
I’ll have to try it then.
