Since launching the Pixel 11 series and Pixel Watch 5 last week, Google has taken to places like reddit to advertise the line-up and get you to pre-order. Weirdly, as a part of those ads, some users noticed an included device that is a mystery. And seriously, we have no idea what this is.
A reddit thread popped up yesterday with a user asking, “Um, so what the hell is that?” It took a minute for people to realize what they were referring to, but once you see it, you can’t unsee it.
There’s a wearable device in the picture at the top of this post that looks a bit like a Pixel Watch 5, yet very clearly isn’t. We’ve cropped the images below to let you see it more clearly.
Guys, what is this?
Fitbit Charge 7 or mystery Google wearable?

The device has the style of both a Pixel Watch and a Fitbit, like a Fitbit Charge. The device itself is about the width of the Pixel Watch Active band it is attached to, with an oblong display that is showing a familiar Pixel Watch watch face. It shows time, heart rate, steps, and an activity in progress.
Is this an unreleased Fitbit Charge 7? Is it shitty AI that Google is passing along in an advertisement? I’m not sure, but for it to show up in a couple of colorways that match the Pixel 11 series, this feels deliberate. As much as I like to make fun of AI and its many screw-ups, I’m not sure this is one.
Would you be interested in an updated Fitbit Charge device? The Fitbit Air is a solid no-screen option, but there are people who want a screen, just not a large one and aren’t interested in the full Pixel Watch experience. This could be awesome.
