Pre-registration for Super Mario Run, Nintendo’s first real mobile Mario title, is now available for Android. With pre-registration, you will be notified as soon as the game is available for download on Android via Google Play.
If you have somehow missed the news, Super Mario Run was announced by Apple and Nintendo at Cupertino’s last big press event. Since then, the game launched exclusively for iOS, but Nintendo did state quite clearly it would be made available for Android in the near future.
In the game, which is a lot like Temple Run, you play as Mario in a typical platformer layout. However, instead of controlling Mario’s left and right movements, you only control his jump. As you run through levels, you hop over enemies, collect coins, mushrooms, and all that other good stuff.
Reviews for the game on iOS websites are somewhat mixed, especially when you factor in the $9.99 price tag to unlock the full game. It’s Mario, though, so you know people will buy it.
As Android users, we should be somewhat used to not getting cool things as early as iOS users, but these days, when Android marketshare dominates iOS across the globe, it’s hard not to take it a bit personally. In my mind, if a company wants to make big bucks right off the bat, you launch on both platforms simultaneously, allowing everyone to get their hands on the app while the hype is still around.
If you don’t care to pre-register, don’t worry, we will let you know as soon as it’s available for download on Google Play.

May very well grab this when the online requirement is dropped. I usually play time killers when I’m in a place with limited or no access. Looks like a graphically polished game, but unless there is a reason for always online other than “you may steal it”, I’d rather spend my money on games that don’t treat users like thieves.
I don’t understand the enjoyment of the “run” style games. For me it’s odd playing a side scrolling game without controlling the player’s side to side movements. I guess I’m just old school…
Everything on mobile is tap tap tap tap tap. The occasional swipe.
Trying to shoehorn a game that relies on two handed button pushing is never going to work out all that well.
Since sales went down hill Nintendo is like ” F*ck it let’s release it for Android now to make up for sales”
The game sucks. I wouldn’t be interested even if it were 99¢. I’ll stick to playing Mario games on consoles, where they belong.
If this exact same game existed WITHOUT being Mario/Nintendo, no one would be giving this game any hype. I get that the Mario factor is important to an extent, but I just don’t get all the hoopla
to me the mario factor is only a factor if it actually plays like Mario.
This is the same crud they pulled with Pokemon GO.
Is it officially licensed content? Sure.
Is it similar to the games we all know and love? Sure.
Does it satisfy the itch like those older games used to? Not really, though that may just be the harsh reality of nostalgia. We may never know, though, because we’ll never get a true port of those games…
It’s overrated
While I understand the complaints about the price of the game (10$), I don’t understand the complaints of paying to unlock the full game. I do agree it would have been better to have a separate demo application (Like older iOS and Android games). Though the majority mobile users are casual players that have been conditioned to this Free-2-Play bs, as I would call it. When someone tells me a great game is too expensive at 3$ upfront (Downwell, for example), I simply raise an eyebrow.
Ultra cheap prices are sadly not viable in the video-game industry. Especially if it has to turn into a gambling addiction nightmare, like most F2P games.
I cant afford this. Its sad, i’m a lonely person.
For only $10 Mario will be your friend!
Way to be late to the party in announcing this. DL just shut down already. AP and AC have you beat.
First of all, people need to stop complaining that it is not like Super Mario Bros. Nintendo didn’t make this game to be a mobile version of that.
this game was one of the biggest let downs ever or maybe my expectations were too high. I would rather they had put the time and effort in to recreating proper port overs of the original Mario games…
just curious to why you think that??
the concept and play is just too simple for me. minimal strategy be successful and becomes redundant.
SMR isn’t really like Temple Run at all, why do people keep saying it is? It’s 2d vs 3d, there are actual levels instead of running endlessly, there are collectables in each stage that require you to replay them to collect them all, there are enemies to deal with. Aside from the main character automatically running, I don’t see much similarity.
Probably because it is the closest relate able game/app to it that most would understand.
Remember they (Kellen & Tim) still have to appeal to the non-tech crowd. They are simple minded after all
Screw off lol
Automatic running, automatic jumping over small hurdles AND enimies is a part of the problem for me…. On top of that after playing the first levels I don’t think it’s worth $10. I think that’s the sticking point for most people. A lot of high end 3D games don’t go past $6.99
$4.99*
Well after they drop. But for new games like “Bully” for example is 6.99 – I
Google is paying 97$ per hour! Work for few hours and have longer with friends & family! !mj144d:
On tuesday I got a great new Land Rover Range Rover from having earned $8752 this last four weeks.. Its the most-financialy rewarding I’ve had.. It sounds unbelievable but you wont forgive yourself if you don’t check it

That’s kinda where I am at. This looks like an amazing game for 4.99…maybe a dollar or 2 more but 9.99 is pretty steep. I haven’t bought any app for that price yet. And the fact that they snubbed android at launch still erks me. I am prob gonna wait til it’s cheaper or goes on sale though.

Exactly, I was just thinking “can it really be called an endless runner if there are different levels?”
It is like Temple Run…
Yes, it has levels, but that’s sorta the only difference when you strip it down. C’mon!
I agree that it’s not like Temple Run. It’s much more like Rayman Jungle Run, altho it’s even more platformer-like than Rayman. Anyway, I’m a big fan of both of those games, and I went to an Apple store just to play Mario Run so I can tell you it’s an insta-buy for me. $10 is a great deal for a well-made game that will provide me hours of entertainment.
This game sucks…the In-App-Purchases are ridiculous.
I thought it didnt have them?? thought it was 10 bucks outright with no plans on IAPs?
You’re right. Just 1.
just making sure I wasnt getting excited just to be duped! haha
That’s to unlock the whole game…I don’t do that before I try a game out 1st. It’s not like the normal Mario games we’ve played in the past. Can’t go backwards, it’s all constant forward motion. I played it a couple times on my iPad mini, and that’s it.
I played the first 2 levels on my wifes iphone….after the third, it tells you to pay. But once you do, there are no IAP’s. I dont consider paying for an app as IAP. its not like nintendo put things to buy in the app to beat the game…or enhance it. its all open after paying that 10 bucks.
I do think it was misleading how they didnt just list it on the appstore on the iphone as 10 bucks from the get-go.
On my iPad mini 4, it wanted $$ if I wanted to advance from the 1st level to the 2nd.
The first 3 stages are free…. You play the first 3 stages and then you have to pay.
this.
Yes, but once you get past the 1-3 stage, you have to pay to get to 2-1, and so-on.
Right…. Almost like a demo
Howard’s wife (beth) is way to hot to be with a 7 foot scarecrow looking dude. Tell baba booey he sucks
ta ta toofey 😉
It’s not Super Mario Bros, going backwards doesn’t NEED to be there.
I disagree, there are some spots where going backwards to get coins would be helpful.
Um…you couldn’t go backwards in the original SMB without dying.
Waiting for your Review Tim.
Oh I’m gonna play the hell out of this
been hoarding these opinion funds for close to a year….cant wait to try this out.
How much have you collected?
23 right now
wow! fantastic! That’s a lot of money for apps.
yeah that sucks that its not available in your country….its fantastic! I havent paid for much of anything in over a year. I hope you get it in the near future.
Yes but I think my countrymen don’t deserve it.
why do you think that?
I wouldn’t like seeing these uncouth people getting anything so good.
How much have you collected?
$0.00 because Opinion Rewards isn’t available in my country.
HOLY $H!T !!!!!!! That’s insane. I think no other rewards/earning app gives anything like this.
$103.78 since 11/2013.
If you’re a woman you make even more.
Yes they do. I have put a couple of lady friends on rewards and they get a ton of shopping/pet related surveys. Makes me jealous. They always pay a lot too. I mostly get business software related and location based surveys.
I had like $23 then finger soft release hill climb 2….. I’m not starting over with $1.67.
That serius contract should be making you plenty of scratch.
*SiriusXM
nintendo has been tripping lately, no thanks
Its a bit ridiculous that going into 2017 we still see iOS exclusivity on games and apps as if it still were 2009. I cant imagine if most major video games were released on PS4 for a couple months before being eventually being released to Xbox.
Well you just don’t understand business. It happens more than you think.
Tomb Raider released only for Xbox one for months. DLC for Call of Duty releases 30 days exclusive on ps4. This is done all the time.
this game sucks
In my opinion, it “launched” faster than what I expected. I was expecting at least 3 months of iOS exclusivity.
Yes even I was expecting that. But I think there is at least a month left before we see it in Google Play.
I just think it wasn’t the success Nintendo hoped it would be and kinda rushed things to monetize faster.
That’s because it’s $10!
And because it’s not a real Mario game, just a run of the mill mobile game with a Mario theme slapped on it.
Well no longer being the #1 grossing app after 12 days in ANY country will do that.
Registered but I won’t pay $9.99 for the full content.
Can’t we all apply those Opinion Rewards credits? 😛
yeah that’s probably what I’m going to do
Kinda wish I hadn’t wasted mine on Pokemon GO, I would have enough for the full game when it comes out. Oh well, probably another 3 months of the occasional $0.20 surveys.
Opinion Rewards is only available in a few countries, and not in mine.So no not ALL of us can.
I haven’t had an opinion survey in forever : c
idk if it’s just me, but when I mess around with the app I seem to get surveys a little more frequently. I just open it to remind Google I’m alive…
Why not?
It’s expensive.Also I don’t think I will enjoy it that much
not really.
for what ?
$10 is not expensive.
It’s a lot more expensive than most Android games. Also expensive for my budget.
It’s 25% the cost of a full fledged 3D mario game for the 3DS
Obviously haven’t played it but if it’s got around 25% of the content of the 3DS games then it should be considered a fair price.
