Today, Twitter announced a brand new tablet-optimized application for Galaxy Note 10.1 – 2014 Edition tablet owners. Yes, you read that right, it’s a complete overhaul of the tablet app for a single device. The Note 10.1 – 2014 Edition hit the shelves in the U.S. starting today, and anyone who has picked one up, can start experiencing the refreshed Twitter app. In terms of what’s new, it’s your basic Twitter app, but there have been a few features added in to take advantage of the Note 10.1’s large display and included stylus.
The app supports multi-window, so reading through tweets and browsing on the Web at the same time is now possible. In addition, you will see a brand new Twitter widget for your homescreen, as well as an option to draw on your photos before tweeting them. If you fancy yourself an artist, that might be fun.
According to Twitter, we should expect this look to come to additional Samsung tablets and “other Android tablets” sometime in the future. In the meantime, feel free to download and use the leaked version that has been circulating for the past month.
Are we surprised that Android users are currently getting the shaft from Samsung and Twitter with this exclusive? No, no we are not.

An old, leaked version, yes. Presumably, this one is better and less buggy.
Correct. Haven’t come across any bugs personally, but then again I don’t use it much on my tablet anyway.

I’d rather use my Motorola Xoom than a 10″ tablet with Touchwiz. I like Touchwiz on phones, but I don’t love it. Tablets, though? Meh.
It’s the hardware buttons that kill it for me before even turning it on.
The hardware buttons don’t matter to me. I have a Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition and the hardware buttons just remind me of my old Nexus S, which is fine. I like software buttons too. I’m indifferent really. I don’t one provides a better or wise user experience than the other.

Looks nothing like the Twitter 5.0 beta I’ve been testing for a few weeks.
No joke, we now have 3 twitter experiences on android. Production, Beta, and Twitter Tablet. All with 3 unique UIs
Ironically i gave up the Twitter 5.0 beta for the time being because, though it works on the vast majority of Android tablets, for some reason it doesn’t work on the Motorola Xoom with the stock ROM. It gives me push notifications, I can view tweets, I can use the widget, but if I I just go into the app like usual and hit the main screen (where you can swipe left/right to choose tweets, interactions, etc.), the app simply closes and that’s the end. No force close notification or anything like that. It just opens, then closes. The end. It’s been like that forever now. I hope they get that fixed by the time 5.0 goes public. The Xoom runs stock Android 4.1.2 from Google, so it shouldn’t necessarily be an issue with the ROM on the Xoom side.
