Samsung really wants you to buy an unlocked Galaxy S10, S10+, or S10e right now. Their trade-in program just tweaked trade-in values for a number of phones and is offering ridiculous values for older devices you may have available to swap.

They just upped trade-in prices on the Galaxy S9 and S9+ to $400 for the first time in a while, but if you have a 2-year old Galaxy S8, S8+, or S8 Active lying around, you’ll get $350. From looking back at the original launch trade-in prices, these appear to be the highest yet for the S8 line. Samsung will also give Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge owners $300 off.

For other good trade prices, the iPhone XS Max is $500, iPhone XS is $450, and the iPhone X is $400.

There are a couple of things to note here. These higher trade-in values only appear if you buy an unlocked version of any of the Galaxy S10 models. If you choose a carrier variant, you won’t get as much for your trade, for whatever reason.

As a reminder, Samsung’s trade-in program is the best because they give you the instant value of your trade as a discount today when you purchase a Galaxy S10. For example, if you buy a 128GB Galaxy S10 today and trade-in a Galaxy S8 for $350 off, you’ll pay $549.99 instead of $899.99. Once you receive your new S10, Samsung will ask that you send in your S8 to confirm.
