April’s Android Security Update Goes Live for Nexus, Pixel Devices (Updated)

Google just dropped the April 2018 security patch for Nexus and Pixel devices on us. At this time, we already have both factory image and OTA files, so choose whichever works best for you if you don’t feel like waiting for the update to show up on your device.

So far, we are seeing new 8.1.0 files for Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL (OPM2.171019.029, OPM4.171019.015.A1), Pixel and Pixel XL (OPM2.171019.029), Nexus 6P (OPM3.171019.019, OPM5.171019.019), Nexus 5X (OPM2.171019.029), and Pixel C (OPM1.171019.026).

From what we can tell, there is only an April 5 security patch level for this month.

Update notes:

  • Google has not provided a difference between the two Nexus 6P builds. Should they, we’ll update this post.
  • UPDATE 4/9 Google posted a new OPM4.171019.015.A1 build for the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. This new build is for users on Telus and Koodo.
