Back in April, Samsung announced that its Gear 360 camera, a device that will probably be the best 360-degree VR camera on the block, was headed to select countries. At the time, they failed to provide pricing or when anyone in the US could buy it. Now, as we close in on the end of June, we are one step closer to knowing all when it comes to US availability. We know a price!

According to Samsung, the Gear 360 will cost a semi-steep, but-sort-of-expectedly-steep price of $349.99. The device goes on sale in the US today…sort of.

VidCon, this place for YouTubers to grandstand around like the faux-celebrities they are and get chased around by stalkers tweens who watch too much YouTube, is kicking off tomorrow and will be the official mini-launch of the Gear 360. The device will be available at VidCon in “limited” quantities, mostly to YouTubers who get paid by Samsung to show off Samsung products to their millions of YouTube subscribers. And seriously, those are the only people who can buy it for now.

Samsung would only say that additional availability “will follow later in the year.” OK!
