Being a guitar player myself, I know how important a guitar being in tune is. Of course, when you play the style of music I do, sometimes tuning your guitar does not matter so much, but that is besides the point. To help all guitarists, as well as other stringed instrument players, UltraTuner has hit Google Play, priced at $4.99.

UltraTuner features a variety of methods for tuning an instrument, such as “Stage” for visual flat and sharp correction, as well as a “Studio” mode which features real-time input wavelength visuals for those of you who are super OCD about pitch. But while in the studio, correct tuning is key, so no excuses are needed for your behavior.

In the settings menu, a custom value can be set to your A4 note, but comes with a default of 440 hertz. In addition, a Transpose setting allows you to tweak the root note for tuning up or down by six half steps.

Given I keep a guitar handy by the desk every day of the week, this little tuner will come in handy when I don’t feel like plugging it into a little digital tuner. Priced at $4.99, it is a premium application, but so far, it seems very accurate and worth the price.

Check it out.
