After a long wait, it appears Motorola is finally shipping out soak test invites for Moto X (1st Gen) owners, bringing them up to Android 5.0.2. According to Motorola’s Luciano Carvalho, the company has no current plans to bring Android 5.1 to the device, but that could change at any time.

Considering that the original Moto X runs nearly stock Android, it has surprised many owners that the company has not been quicker about pushing out Lollipop. A reason for this delay has not been acknowledged by the company, but with many other OEMs seemingly having troubles with bugs and other misc. issues inside Lollipop, it is possible Motorola had to tweak quite a few things before pushing it to the public.

Regardless of the wait, soak tests could take a few days, weeks, or even longer depending on if more issues are found. Once the update begins rolling out across carriers, we will let you know.

OG Moto X owners, be on the lookout.
