An unlikely company is testing the waters of Android Wear app development, and quite surprisingly, their work is actually pretty cool. Microsoft has released an experimental keyboard application for Google’s smartwatch platform, one which focuses entirely on handwriting.

While the idea of handwriting on such a small screen may seem ridiculous, as you can see in the video posted above, it looks to work quite well. Letters, special characters, and even smileys are supported through the keyboard.

As noted, the keyboard is still in experimental development phases, but users can download and install the apk via an adb method if they so choose.

Once you download the zip file from Microsoft, there is a complete installation instruction list inside.
